mikeb
Regrettably, all this is all pretty 'normal' stuff Every year, some scumbag(s) somewhere manage to screw loads of peeps trying to get tickets unofficially for one event or another. And then more often than not, shortly after the sh*t hits the fan on here and/or elsewhere they're back with a shiny new name and trying the same again. The moral of the story, as usual, is buy your tickets ONLY from official sources or accept that fact that you missed out. If you simply can't accept that you missed out and may not be able to go unless more official tickets are subsequently released then you just have to accept that buying tickets via any other source carries a significant risk of a much reduced bank balance and still no genuine tickets. Harsh but sadly true. If peeps didn't try to buy dodgy tickets then there wouldn't be quite so many dodgy outfits jumping on the bandwagon trying to sell those dodgy tickets I feel really sorry for those who naively get ripped off but there are so many warnings issued about not buying tickets through unofficial sources and yet still this kinda thing happens almost every year. Just about the only way touting in general and scumbags like this in particular are going to get stopped (or at least limited) is simply by peeps not using them. No one else is ever likely to do anything remotely constructive to help. Whilst there is money to made from fleecing unsuspecting gig/festival goers then the scumbags will be out in force all ready and waiting to relieve you of as much of your do$h as they can with only a "maybe" that you'll get tickets sometime later. I hope most peeps get their money back - not much of a consolation for not getting in but way better than paying through the nose for not getting in. A credit card is your friend when it comes to issues like this. Don't take any cr@p from the card issuer. Almost regardless of when you actually paid, not getting the goods at the appropriate time justifies a full refund. It's by no means so clear-cut with debit cards but many banks will help although I rather suspect most will just say tough unless you have some insurance style policy. If you paid by cash/cheque then I reckon you're totally screwed unfortunately but it's still well worth pursuing with your bank if it was a cheque. Always file a report with the relevant Trading Standards office and maybe even discuss with Citizens Advice or a Solicitor to see if legal action in general or specifically a Small Claims Court kinda thing is appropriate and likely to be successful. Anything else is perhaps a complete waste of time TBH. The Police should be interested and will probably take details through gritted teeth but I would doubt anything positive will happen somehow. Ditto Watchdog or similar. It all makes for a good program and lots of viewers but even they've not managed to prevent the likes of getmetickets - WILL RIP YOU OFF - WILL RIP YOU OFF - WILL RIP YOU OFF - WILL RIP YOU OFF - WILL RIP YOU OFF.com from disappearing and allegedly reappearing again in a new guise shortly after and neither did the fact that legal proceedings were issued against them either. Good luck and at the risk of sounding like your mum ... don't do it again !! Teach all the greedy scumbag touts and stupid event promoters who simply don't care about touting a *real* lesson by NOT buying tickets from unofficial sources even if it means not attending your favourite band's gig or a festival and the event not having a capacity crowd. Buying "cheap" from a tout is NOT a result either - way better that it costs them the full face value of the ticket rather than only making a slight loss. The more touts left with tickets after events the better and the less likely they are to get involved next time ! Buying spare tickets at face value or less from friends or other genuine gig/festival goers via the likes of ScarletMist or similar is just fine of course ... but still be very careful, scumbags do occasionally lurk even on places like these as well as on message boards various unfortunately. ianyoungs
Hello I'm a reporter on the BBC News website looking into the SOS Masterticket story. I'm trying to get an idea of how many people have paid money and not received tickets - especially for V. And also those who have bought for Reading/Leeds/Madonna/George Michael and whether they've had any communication with the company about these. please email me on ian.youngs@bbc.co.uk with your experiences thanks ian
