Watched '8MM' with Nic Cage which was actually quite good.

'King of the Hill',based on a young boy during depression era America who has to live by his wits after his parents leave.Actually thought it was quite boring but nicely filmed.

Also found my new favourite film,'Farce of the Penguins'.Hilarious!

sorry to drag a post back from about 100 pages ago, but

agreed, its utter cock

agreed. costner is outstanding in this.

In fact I have posted on this very thread the same sentiments about the same two films.

started to watch ghost town the other night - a bit funny in places, but we were both knackered with about 40 minutes to go, and went to bed. dunno if I can be arsed finishing it off. I hate rom coms, but love gervais - oh the dilemma.

bit shit that robin is in it considering christopher nolan said that in the timeline of the current films robin probably wasnt even a teenager yet!

EDIT: The Sun is the source....I'm gonna call bullshit on that one!

The riddler should have been will arnett. He would have kicked ass as the the riddler as could carry funny and sinister easily.

Murphy might be alright tho, he's generally quite good when he gets a decent script/role. His problem has been choosing wrong scipts. He's not big enough to carry a movie as the lead anymore, but he chooses atrocious films so that he can. As a support with a good role, he'll do well. I'd rather not have robin tho, and weiss doesn't strike me as a great catwoman, pfeiffer shits over weiss.

Terminator Salvations trailer looked incredible. I was sold, it looked great, had the right feel, reset the plotline and opened up the Terminator universe to allow it to breathe again. Riiiiiight up until Optimus Prime popped out of a house at the end. Oh dear.

Bugger.

Oh and the cast for the sequel to Dark Knight sounds like utter bullshit. But, please bear in mind what everyone was saying when Heath Ledger was cast, and look how well he turned out.

Shia Lebeouf won't be Robin, that I am 99% sure. The mistake (and Nolan knows this) was that in the previous films Robin was far too old that he just became a lame sidekick who got in the way, and that isn't the purpose of Robin. The purpose of Robin in the comic is to keep Batman on the good side, as he's his son.

Robin needs to be a child, and Bruce would be his adoptive father. The novel Dark Victory (sequel to Long Halloween, which Dark Knight was loosely based on) had Robin as an 8 year old kid (or around that age), and done away with him being a full on sidekick and instead just had him as a kid Bruce took responsibility of, and Robin happens to save his life. If Robin were to be introduced, seeing as Nolan is fond of the Sale/Loeb books, it would follow something more like that plot, he'd just be a likable child with nowhere to go and is someone Bruce recognises as someone who is a lot like himself, and I'd suspect Nolan would keep him mostly as just Dick Grayson rather than a full-time, lame, sidekick.

It was the first Batman novel where they portrayed Robin in a manner that could actually work in a film. They may also, but I hope they don't, do the female Robin that Frank miller invented for Dark Knight Returns, but I thought that was so shit, so lame and unrealistic and goofy. I also hope they don't go with some annoying "child prodigy actor" because they're just freaky.

Having Bruce go down the surrogate father route would play out well. Especially if it's in conjunction with Batman being on the run, would make for some good drama I think.

Rachel Weisz as Catwoman - no complaints at all with that. Unlikely I think though.

Eddie Murphy as Riddler - well people did say Heath Ledger was gonna suck as Joker when he was announced, and he proved everyone incredibly wrong. This could also be Eddie Murphy's break from the shit he's been in - he was good once! Also the main thing about Riddler is his narcissism - something Murphy is good at. I still don't think Murphy will be Riddler. If he weren't playing Gordon, I'd have said Gary Oldman would have made a fine Riddler. In fact, Shia Lebeouf would make a better Riddler. Jim Carrey could have been a really great Riddler if he had a better director who told him to reign in the Ace Ventura shit. But really they should get a heavyweight for Riddler - someone who rivals Caine, Freeman and Oldman for reverence - his age would also be irrelevant. I'd like to see him as a techno-terrorist - maybe using Wayne's tech against the world, and like Joker, his danger come from the fact he sees crime as good sport. Will Arnett is a good choice, he even looks the part.

I'd like to see Bane done properly - someone who is huge but also incredibly smart. In the comics he's the only guy who actually beat Batman, he broke his back, crippling him. That'd be one amazing ending - seeing Batman get royally f*cked up and leave the whole thing on a massive downer for everyone to reflect on. Screw Hollywood that's what I want.
