biffoire
It's not about how heavy a band is, it's about how they perceive themselves. For example I think kiss and def leppard are about as middle of the road pop rock you can get but they got booked. Because they are perceived to rock or metal. KOL might be heavier than them live but are perceived as Indie. Besides I think KOL have enough festival saturation this year with Reading and T not to meantion i think KOL would be too high profile for DL. MetalDave
obversely havnt seen them live, they are alot heavy than they sound on their album/radio and if they booked My shite Chemical Romance a few years ago they cud book kings of leon? luckysalt
Just looking at whos touring in the Summer, and its Thunder's farewell tour, do we think they could play Download as part of it? Also New Found Glory looking very likely, playing 2 UK dates end of May then over to Germany start of June, so I guess they will then come back over for Download? Bayside are supporting them, the whole of their US tour, the UK dates and the Geramn dates, so I guess they might be at Download too

luckysalt
Seems Download wasn't the only festival in Europe to be adding names today Latest addition to Nova Rock which is the week after Downlaod Chris Cornell I can really see Friday now being Nickelback with Chris Cornell playing underneath
Hazz
As I said on another thread last night at the Brits Iron Maiden were immense and obv won best live performance. But they did look v smug and said they would be back in the Uk after they finished touring (which is april) and that people should come and see em....so maybe Iron Maiden...come on 1 British headliner...please? luckysalt
Did they actually say they were playing in the UK? Do they live in the UK or in the States now cus they could just have meant back to the UK cus they live there? But if so they meant play and if Friday is Iron Maiden Nickelback Chris Cornell Then that would be pretty damn good and would work too I think

Axl
Theres plenty of reasons you could suggest for various bands not playing, but unless there is a cast iron reason why they won't be there, they are in with a shout. Really, i could think of a fairly logical reason why any band anyone cares to name won't be headlining, but at this stage no-one seems to have the faintest idea who it is. Two weeks ago people thought it was Crue/Slipknot/Prodigy headlining, and Wes Borland was doing interviews saying he'd never play with Limp Bizkit ever again. Keep an open mind, is what i'm saying.
