Also...in this month's UNCUT there is a small Q&A with Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear and he says the following:

"I've never met Robin Pecknold, but we talk all the time via e-mail or Twitter. He lives in Seattle and i'm in New York, so we haven't crossed paths yet. I'm sure i'll meet him this year at some festival."

Could he mean our little EOTR? Just another though for the third headliner...perhaps <_<

Reference earlier discussion in this thread about The Decemberists (see pages 8 onwards)

I am really truly getting into their Hazards of Love album.

A bit reminisent of Arcade Fire (but that's no bad thing).

I see that this was their 5th album. Who's been listening to whom for ideas Decemberists><Arcade Fire??

*BUMP*

Just posting to get this thread back on the first page in the vain hope that there will be news on EOTR 09!

It's been SOOOOOOO long since the last band announcement and I realise they're waiting on a couple of comfirmations before announcing again but...this is driving me crazy!!!

FFs and EITS ARE enough to get excited about but I want to hear MORE! COME ON!!!

I was (rather sadly) looking through my old EOTR e-mails and noticed that the main announcements for last year's bands were on the following dates:

15th Feb: First Band Announcement + Saturday Headliner (11 Acts)

18th Feb: Woodpigeon Added (1 Act)

7th Mar: Next Band Announcement (13 Acts)

18th Apr: Sunday Headlliner Announcement (1 Act)

30th Apr: Friday Headlliner Announcement + Others (12 Acts)

21st May: Next Band Announcement (8 Acts)

11th Jun: Next Band Announcement + Unsigned Winners (20 Acts)

3rd Jul: "The Local" Band Announcement (20 Acts)

29th Aug: Stages & Timings Document Released + Few More Acts to Local etc

So by this date in 2008 we had 26 acts confirmed...so far in 2009 we already have 35 acts confirmed. However because the last announcement was on 10/03/09 I think we are due one very soon...I would say by the end of April we will know the third headliner at least.

So excited :)

For some reason they are more legendary in my house (and a few US States) than they are elsewhere...whereas I could listen to RF's postcard-reading brilliance all night, I agree that they may not be headline material. However...I do believe they have the ability to "soundscape" enough to make that Garden Stage shine!

Nice on GTG...

I am jealous...let's hope though that there is no rain for them at EOTR...I am presuming that even though they are not headliners they will be mid-billing on the Garden Stage...will be so beautiful.

My Top 3 High Priority Must Sees so far:

  • Tallest Man On Earth

  • Richmond Fontaine

  • Fleet Foxes

My Top 3 Medium PriorityMust Sees so far:

  • Malcolm Middleton

  • Peter Broderick

  • J.Tillman

My Top 3 Low(ish) Priority Must Sees so far:

  • The Leisure Society

  • William Elliott Whitmore

  • The Dodos

Anyone for anyone?

My current big three would be

Efterklang

Explosions in the Sky

Fleet Foxes

I hope that's not too 'oh he's only interested in the established names'. I just really want to see EITS and am getting into FFs a lot having decided that the whole So-Cal/Beach Boys revival sound was not for me when the hype first hit. But my God those boys can sing and their songs are intricate and interesting. Kind of like the Magic Numbers for people who appreciate music of quality!

After my big three I'm hoping for board guidance as to some acts I might not be familiar with to particularly investigate - ideas?

And I'm still hoping that Blueneck might be announced. I love them, they're just finishing their second record, live in Somerset so not far to travel and have a sound that would blow a darkened Garden Stage apart, I'm sure. I've suggested it to them via their board and they sounded quite keen!
