Muchly looking forward to the Leisure Society after hearing their album three times over the weekend ;)

Other top look-forwards...

The Acorn - saw them supporting Elbow and they were fantastic.

Dan Sartain - didn't get to EOTR 2007 so missed him.

Efterklang - but how are they going to get a Gothenburg stairwell to Dorset?

Explosions In The Sky - I *will* fall asleep to them, probably standing up, but it will be ace.

Fleet Foxes - after seeing them last year I can't wait to see them again. Will put off seeing them at Glasto to see them at EOTR.

Not to mention Charlie Parr, Bob Log, Low Anthem, Okkervil River, Papercuts, I could go on...

I've just (rather sadly, I realise) totted up the number of acts from the three previous EOTRs and I am so excited that I'm already excited about lots of the bands announced up to now for this year and we're unlikely to be more than half-way through the announcements yet!

2006 - 68 acts

2007 - 88 acts

2008 - 71 acts

2009 - 34 acts so far

Whichever way you look at it, I can't imagine there being feweracts this year than any of the previous editions so we should have AT LEAST 34 more acts to be announced. Bloody great! (Unless the credit crunch really is biting so hard that...)

How exciting is that? And WHO the hell are the third headliners for the Garden Stage????

Add to that, though, last year's 26 The Local acts (announced seperately, although I think some of those were announced in regular announcements last year) and the ten winning unsigned bands.

I suspect there's some pretty big names left - leaving out the two headliners there's not a lot of really sizeable names in there. Neko Case, Okkervil River, Steve Earle, that's about it. Plus no British Sea Power, Brakes, Sons Of Noel & Adrian or Wave Pictures yet...

Well, I'm most excited about...... All of it :)

Definitely Fleet Foxes - their gig at the Custard Factory in Brum last Oct was amazing - they suddenly "clicked" for me - can't wait to see them on the Garden Stage :D

Also The Acorn, who were fab supporting Elbow.

And Efterklang, The Leisure Society, Peter Broderick, Dodos, Dan Sartain, The Low Anthem, Okkervil River...... and all the other bands I keep sticking in my Amazon basket purely on the grounds that they're mentioned on here

So........ Richmond Fontaine have *loads* of albums - where do I start? :)

Well...I started with "The Fitzgerald" and was hooked from there...there are some mellow magical numbers like "This Warehouse Life" and "Disappeared" but then you get a different side of them with "Black Road" and "Exit 194B" (a bit more funk!). Each song is a well-told "real" story that just sucked me in. I then went on to "Post to Wire" (2 years older) which was a step back to a more countrified sound (especially the catchy, poppy title track) and then onto "Thirteen Cities" which is more reminiscent of "The Fitzgerald".

As it worked for me (I love them) I would suggest you also start with "The Fitzgerald"...it is definitely an acquired taste but as I stated in a previous post...I could just listen to them all night...a lot of heart in those there "motel" songs! :P

Well, after being initially somewhat underwhelmed by first listenings to her album, I was totally captivated on Friday night by Lisa Hannigan and her fine little band. The songs from the album took on a bit of new life and she threw in some cracking covers - Dylan, John Martyn and 'The Lady Is A Tramp' sung in the 1st person, which I don't think I've heard before.

Would love to see a repeat performance on the Garden Stage in the sunshine.

I noticed this weekend that EOTR advertised for the first time this year in The Guardian.

The advert listed Fleet Foxes, Explosions In The Sky, and Steve Earl on their top line in equal sized type. However, the second line of Okkervil River, Neko Case and Alela Diane was also in the same sized type.

Are we still sure that Steve Earl is not the 3rd headliner and that there is still this slot to be announced?

Nah, I'm with you Mr. Hanna.

Bigger name yet to be announced. Steve Earl's just listed like that in the Grauniad because he's probably the biggest non-headline name they've got to sell the festival with at the mo.

Plus, EOTR-RO said there was still another headliner to be announced, which is as close to the Horse's Mouth as we can get on this thread...

Got the Iain Archer CD today...on first listen i'm not sure...an acoustico-singer-songsmith type with what seems a rather weak voice...but then the fragile voice seems to grow on you...some lovely little songs...think he must be headed for the Bimble. Anyone who likes Conrad Vingoe or Tobias Froberg will like this guy...check him out

Now look here, End of the Road people.

Isn't it about time that you announced Sons of Noel and Adrian on the bill?

Sure, you may not have actually booked them yet (insanity).

But, if you're going to go to the trouble of getting the Leisure Society down, then you may as well hand out cheese sandwiches to the string section army and get them along too.

Yours sincerely,

Swindlebiscuit.

There is still at least one announcement left to come - we still have the local stage and unsigned bands competiton yet to go out.... and the answer to are RF the headliner....is that i would be fairly sure they aren't. But don't quote me on that.

By the way if any of you are about in Brighton theres an exhibition of my gig photography (featuring lots of eotr) at 29 Chichester Place (15 on the Kemptown Open House Trail) every weeknd in may from 11-5.
