End of the Road 2009 (!)

What about.......EELS?

New record out on 2 June and I'd imagine on the road to promote. I think they are the right 'size' of act to headline the Garden Stage with an extensive, varied back catalogue and new material to play to the masses. I also think that the feel of EOTR would suit Mark Everett down to the ground...

Petition, anyone...?!

After being slightly underwhelmed by Hazards of Love on first listen I can safely say now that it is one of the strongest "growers" I have ever heard and I have found myself turning full circle completely!

I believe that The Decemberists have created a genuine masterpiece. I think they may now have to be my frontrunner wish for the Sunday headliner.....

OK...just to "bump" this thread along...

If you could choose 3 "must sing" songs from 3 different artists already confirmed at EOTR 2009 then what would they be? My selection (I could list many!) below:

  • Fleet Foxes - Mykonos (Let's be honest...Could be a GREAT singalong)

  • Tallest Man on Earth - I Won't Be Found (This song just does something to me!)

  • Leisure Society - The Last of the Melting Snow (Anyone else hear "Only Love Can Break Your Heart in there?!)

Mr Knuckles - I agree re The Hazards of Love - not sure first off, then listened to it a few times in the car and became hooked  I love The Wanting....... that's a definite sing-a-long

And I've only just got round to buying Picaresque which is also fantastic ;)

This week the following have arrived......

Richmond Fontaine - The Fitzgerald

Joe Gideon and the Shark - Harum Scarum

The Mummers - whatever it's called

Dirty Projectors - Rise Above

So I have some listening to do ;)

I've properly gone off Devendra over the past couple of years, doesn't do it for me these days. His eccentricity is more of a put-off these days than it is charming.

I've been listening to Yeasayer a bit over the weekend. Stick them on my wish-list.
