End of the Road 2009 (!)

Not British Sea Power for me. I like 'em. Like 'em a lot, and fully expect them to be there in some capacity. But headlining the main stage on the final night? Nah. Doesn't work for me, and will be a disappointment if it happens.

But as others have said, the bill is so strong everywhere else, it really shouldn't matter who the headliner turns out to be.

Still want New Pornographers though. Modest Mouse or Band Of Horses would be good as well. If The Lemonheads get announced I will properly (excuse the crudery!) cream myself. Greatest band of all time in the world EVER!

I'd be over the moon with My Morning Jacket!

Still leaves the Tori Amos possibility open.

Probably neither of these are quite headliners.....but could be joint headliners I suppose....how about The Magic Numbers followed by Guillemots????? Would be party time for me!

I'm in agreement with the views on BSP - I actually thought their set at EOTR last year was one of their poorest shows, and I've seen them many times. Maybe it was the timeslot, or the shortness of their set, or maybe they just have their eyes on other things these days - I confess their taking of the V dollar this year is a major disappointment for a band so usually keen to do something different - but it just lacked something. I had more fun (and I think the band members did also) at the Modern Ovens set.

I also agree that BSP as a headliner would be playing safe - a bit like Brakes, who although great are an easy choice for a Big Top party.

To be honest it's hard to think of many more acts that a) aren't already at EOTR, have already been dismissed or c) I would want to see there (other than bands that are already at other festivals that I'm going to). Anyway I reckon the ink is already dry on the deal, they're just keeping their cards close to their chests as a final push for tickets.

btw godspeed_steve - do you play Godspeed at 2am on your mini stereo at festivals?

Just listening to The Leisure Society...AGAIN! They are the band I think I'm MOST excited about seeing at EOTR*...hope they get decent length set...quite honestly I I would be very happy for them to play the whole of The Sleeper to me!

*(*whispers*...'and EITS... they're gonna blow my mind!')

At last year's EOTR there was a group of young bucks camped next to us, who were playing US College Rock quite loud in the early hours on the Friday night (blink 182 et al), which was a bit annoying but hey, it's a fessie, this is what happens. But on the Saturday night they played Godspeed (part 1 of Raise Your Skinny Fists), which was immeasurably better as late-night, post-cider music. On the Sunday we got chatting with them and they were a real nice bunch.

Someone a few pages back on here mentioned Espers - thankyou, bought the album and listening to it now - lovely :)

How about Broken Records? I'm *loving* their album and they have very good review of their tour  - I think they'd be fab on the Garden Stage :O

I would still love the Divine Comedy as a Sunday headliner - having revisited Morrison Hotel (the Doors) the other day I've decided that Neil Hannon should do a cover of Blue Sunday :O
