sammysundae
there simply has to be more to this. i have been to many a festival and plenty of clubnights/gigs a lot more aggressive than glasto and i have never heard of this happening to anyone. and i know plenty of people who are good at getting themselves into trouble. if i had a 16 year old son (i don't, i am 19 myself) who came home with a story like this. of course i would be very sympathetic, but i would definately question (to myself) whether there might be a bit more to it. boys will be boys (i would know). i'm not calling your son a liar, far from it. but don't be so nieve. 16 year old boys are very good at getting into trouble. sammysundae
fully qualified, trained, paid security staff beating a 16 year old boy heavily into unconciousness for no reason? i just can't believe that. i'm very sorry if i'm wrong in which case heavens have mercy on us all because that is absolutely disgusting. i can only hope the individuals involved believe in karma. markeee
sounds like an odd incident, as said by many others, always gonna be a a few 'bad uns' at glastonbury, both punters and staff i.e. stewards or security personnel. sounds odd that he was following some people, security then ask him questions for no reason..and the next minute he's outside? it sounds like a story of someone whos been on drugs, not saying this was the case here, but it's really odd

markeee
When i was doing security in 2005 i was not fully trained or qualified to do the job, had no experience in this type of event so not really sure if the said person was or not. I think the rules may have been changed now though.

Goblinz
the rules have slighly changed everyone has to be 'SIA accredited' means f*** all though, anyone can get SIA license, hence plenty of criminals, ex crims are, there was even a documentary on it, and how at the test centre everyone openly talks and the member of staff there does nothing it's just a money making scam, SIA & gov make money, doesn't clean up th security industry at all imo
bazakin12
Last year there was a few security guys walking around, they thought they were SAS or something. big stupid sunglasses and utility belts. They were well over the top. I noticed them a few times giving people a hard time around the dance field. you give some people a little power and it goes to their heads. But they were very much in the minority and most of the staff are brilliant.
ukslim
FWIW I believe the story. I've never witnessed any theft or assault at Glastonbury either - and I went many times pre-superfence, including 2000. So 'I've never seen it' certainly doesn't mean it doesn't happen. However, I'm certain that nowadays things like this are very rare. Rare enough that when they do happen, they should be investigated. But also rare enough that nobody should be put off going. disasterplan
The attack was probably in retaliation to his dad's horrific spelling crimes.
Thatmax
sounds like the stuff the Reading "specialised" security has been getting up to in previous years. Those guys really are just a roaming gang of scottish thugs. They aren't all bad though, I befriended one high up guy who made our 8 hour q to get a ticket from the box office more bearable with his antics
