I saw the Boss in the freezing cold on sunday opening the Obama gig with The Rising, and while I was a bit of a way's away I wish i could have just been close enough to thank him for doing Glastonbury later on in the summer...

with all the rallies he did for Obama (to save the world from the prospect of 4 yrs of John McCain and Sarah Palin) and his increased respect, I think the historic maganitude of him playing Glasto this summer just can't be over-emphasized. It will be the most historic Glasto set...or amongst the top 3 or so...Radiohead '97, Macca, etc...

It humors me to see the other threads (surely started by a troll), talking about him being rubbish, or only worthy of a sunday oldies slot in the sun.

He's as much of a legend now as McCartney is. and he is far far far better live than McCartney. of course we all know this...but the Kaiser Chiefs fans don't have a clue.

Can't f***in' wait!!!

just picked up a boxset called "Bruce Springsteen The Collection", which includes the albums "Greetings from Asbury Park New Jersey", "The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle" and "Darkness on the edge of town" for £5 in HMV!!! all the regular albums are £5 or less (including The Rising tour edition for £4, including a pretty good DVD). the american land one is £8, and the DVDs are pretty cheap too!

did you read the verse I quoted from American Land...

it's not patriotic...

and you said it was less patriotic than BITUSA, so you think that's patriotic too

Obama said (something like) the reason he wanted to become president, is becuase he could bever be Bruce Springsteen... so far, he's an intriguing president.

does noone think he could do a bit more of a hits style setlist for this? i know its not his usual thing to do but he never plays festivals usually does he? so he could make some concessions? i swear i saw him do a concert before which was televised where he literally played all of his big songs.....

also does he still play bobby jean? i love that song!

Born To Run, Hungry Heart, The River, Dancing In The Dark, Cover Me, Born In The USA, Glory Days, I'm On Fire, My Hometown, War, Brilliant Disguise, Tougher Than The Rest, Spare Parts, Human Touch, 57 Channels, Streets Of Philadelphia...

there are other not so big hits.. but there are quite few.

plus a couple that others had hits with that he sometimes plays, ie Because The Night (which I feel sure he'll play) and Fever

Thunder Road wasn't a hit, but I hope he plays that more than anything.

I would imagine he'll acknowledge that it won't be a field full of Bruce fanatics who know everything he's ever done...

Bruce is playing a 3 hour slot at PinkPop. Lets hope for the same at Glasters. Plenty of room for any "hits" or "singles" or whatever.

Personally speaking, I would love to see a 4 or 5 song acoustic slot in the middle of the gig. He did it, not so much on the last tour, but on previous tours, either on the piano (which is funny because he always messes up) or on the guitar.

Any of the below would be sublime:

The Wrestler

Im On fire

Last Carnival

My Hometown

Atlantic City

Growin Up

Im sure you may have one or two to add to the wish list Tonyo?

that worries me too...plus the fact that there's still no official confirmation !!!

don't expect it to be confirmed for a while yet ...I suspect that the London show will be confirmed next week sometime but i also think it's likely that Glasto won't be confirmed at the same time. They're likely to give the London shows a week or two of being the only UK show on sale before Glasto is announced I reckon.

but neil, can you definitely assure us that this is 100% or 99.9% on? you do have him 'TBC' on the site, so that more or less assumes he's agreed then from what you've heard.

I trust your judgement, but just cannot imagine the letdown if this turned out to not come true

I believe that Bruce is now signed and sealed, but I do not know for sure - I am relying on the words of others.
