new Springsteen 'rumour'

Why not? The song was written by Woody Guthrie in 1940 in reponse to 'God Bless America' which he couldn't stand. This is the same Woody Guthrie that Joe Strummer acquired his early nickname of Woody from.

It doesn't matter that he is in England. The song transcends boundaries.

I`ll just leave this one here

Backstreets - Boston 25th of march 1977

http://www.mediafire.com/?8mtnhtgjnjx

Hmm...

Let the rain fall down

And wash your tears away

Open your eyes

And let 'em all rise

Because it's branded in your heart

And it'll always be a part of you

So baby, don't, little girl don't cry

Little girl don't cry, it's

All over now

Tonight

Tonight

Fall into my arms

And we will go away

Whoah, whoah, whoah, oh

One soft infested summer Me and Terry became friends

Trying in vain to breathe the fire we was born in

Catching rides to the outskirts, tying faith between our teeth

Sleeping in that old abandoned beach house, getting wasted in the heat

And hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

A love so hard and filled with defeat, say!

Running for our lives at night on them backstreets

Slow dancing in the dark on the beach at Stockton's Wing

Where desperate lovers park we sat with the last of the Duke Street Kings

Huddled in our cars, waiting for the bells that ring

In the deep heart of the night that set you loose from everything

To go running on the backstreets, running on the backstreets

We swore we'd live forever

On the backstreets we'd take it together

Endless juke joints and Valentino drag

Where dancers scraped the tears up off the streets dressed down in rags

Running into the darkness, some hurt bad some really dying

At night sometimes it seemed you could hear that whole damn city crying

Blame it on the lies that killed us, on the truth that ran us down

Blame it all on me, it don't matter to me now

When the breakdown hit at midnight there was nothing left to say

I hated him, and I hated you when you went away

You!

Said!

You'd stop it!

Now laying here in the dark, you're like an angel on my chest

Just another tramp of hearts crying tears of faithlessness

Remember all the movies, Terry, we'd go see

Trying to learn how to walk like the heroes we thought we had to be

Then after all this time to find we're just like all the rest

Stranded in the park and forced to confess

To hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

We swore forever friends

On the backstreets until the end

Till the end

Me and you, baby

It's me and you, girl

And I remember running back

And I remember this guy abandoned this car

In this field about a mile and a half outside of town

And at night, just me and her, and Billy used to hitchhike out there.

And I remember the kids, they stripped down the outside of it

'Til there was almost nothing left

But the interior, the insides were still alright

And we'd ride way down by the railroad tracks

We'd go riding in the backseat

Baby'd take me riding in the backseat

In the backseat

In the backseat

In the backseat

Of that old Cadillac

The kid's got cleats on his boots

Whoa-oh, her heels are stacked

Yeah, in the backseat

Oh, take me down

Hey, Terry

Take me down

And the world, and it spins

Round and round and round

And down and down and down

And round and round and round we go

And down and down and down

And I remember these kids that night

They set fire to this abandoned farmhouse

That was about half a mile up the tracks

And they had these machines down there

And they had these engines down there

And we could see the flames shooting out across the sky

'Til it caught in the field

We sat up on the hood and watched it rushing towards us

Watching the flames rushing toward us

Watched it rushing toward us across the field

'Til we ran back on the tracks

And started heading back into town

And then

And then

And then she kissed me

And then she kissed me

And then she kissed me

And then she kissed me

Waa-ooh mmmmm hmmm, hey

And then she promised

And then she promised

And then she promised

And then she lied

And then she lied

And then she lied

And then she lied

She lied

She lied

She lied

Pretty li-li-li-li-li-li-lies

Pretty li-li-li-li-li-li-lies

And I was just wishing

I remember praying that God would send some angels

And blow this whole damn town right into the sea

I remember wishing that God would send some angels

And blow this whole f**king town right into the sea

Just wishing that God would send some angels

And blow this whole damn town right into the sea

Just blow this whole

Just blow it in to sea

Just blow it all away

Just blow it all away

Just blow it all away

Blow it all away!

Blow it all away!

Make it go away!

Blow it all away!

Just blow it all away!

Just blow it all away!

Just blow it all away!

Just blow it all away!

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets, say it!

Hiding on the backstreets, say it! Hiding on the backstreets, say it!

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets, say it!

Hiding on the backstreets, hiding on the backstreets

It's alright

We'll go hiding on the backstreets

On the backstreets, on the backstreets

On the backstreets, away, go away

Oooh

Oh, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, no, no

ticket fiasco this week with Ticketmaster as springsteen's US dates went on sale monday morning......even within the first 5 or 10 minutes, the site immediately redirected you to a 'tout site' even while tickets were still available. it was outrageous.

to give them credit, the Boss and his management team responded with a note to fans (see link)

but as of now, I have my Glasto ticket, but no tix yet to his 2 New Jersey shows the month before. I'm sure i'll manage my way in...

Found this on the BTX, third post from the top:

http://www.backstreets.com/btx/viewtopic.p...92&start=45

Here's the way it works.

The stage I'm told had approximately 58 microphones. If you look at Bruce's feet during BTR ( I believe) you will notice a coiled, hardwired SM-58( industry standard microphone, what Bruce sings into when he does his solo gigs where he doesn't need wireless).

The microphone setup on the stage is standard with the way the stage is mic'd for an regular ESB show. The stage comes out in a bunch of pieces, usually around 20. The stages pieces are all prewired with multipin interconnects for mics, lights, power, and monitors. The mics are plugged into a snake, which is then split a bunch of different ways:

1. House( stadium mix). Those big huge carts that get rolled out at the end of the half contain JBL Vertec 4889.

This is what the crowd hears. It is NOT what we hear at home, or what the performers hear.

2. Monitor mixers. Troy Milner mixes Gary, Max, C, and Nils. Monty Carlo mixes Bruce, Miami, Patti, Roy, Charlie, and Soozie Q. The band members want to hear more of a certain voice or insturment, they ask their respective engineer which is why Bruce often yells "Hey Monty" etc.

3. Broadcast mixers- radio and TV have their own mixers.

So, everyone at home could be listening to a different mix from the fans in the stadium

Also, everything is recorded. The tracks are recorded digitally during rehearsal than are played underneath during the performance. They could be brought up at the engineer if thats what they wanted.

The band, obviously can't hear whats going on at home. They can't even clearly hear the stadium in-house mix. That is why they have monitor speakers and in ear monitors. The band might have been up there playing their hearts out without having any knowledge what they were doing wasn't being used in the stadium let alone for broadcast.

Also, most people don't know what these are but if you look to the left of the horn section you can see something on a pole sticking up that looks like this

That is a wireless antenna amplifier used on the wireless mics. Bruce, the horns, the choir and the guitars are all wireless.

Also, this is VERY important. Audio and video travel at different speeds. Video is a much more complicated signal and requires more processing. If it's not sync-ed up properly, it can make the timing look off. You see a lot of this on youtube. One of the last pieces of equipment audio travels through at a tv station is often a delay unit so to speak so they can delay the audio by a few mili-seconds so that it lines up with audio.

Finally- someone mentioned awards shows and how they are straight forward. Not true. Although they don't have to deal with setting up a stage by rolling it onto the field, they do have to worry about band change overs. The Grammy's usually use at least 2 stages. While a band is performing on one, techs are working in low-light conditions to set up the other band's gear. Drum kits, guitars, monitors, mics etc all have to be in place, and double checked. Interestingly enough, ATK audio handles the sound for the superbowl and most major award shows- grammy's, and the anti-The Wrestler- Oscars.

Here is my take on the audio. It was predominately live with a few backing tracks used. Bruce's vocal was definitely live, the choir seemed live, max looked live but my biggest problem was the guitars. They weren't loud enough in the mix.
