Originalshez
Glasto opening trio USA --> 10th Ave --> Lucky Day. The Pyramid stage would never be the same again

parsonjack
That would be superb stuff in fairness.
The Nal
very true. though given the relatively common misconception with BitUSA would it be a wise opener...?
parsonjack
He usually just plays a 12 string version with a slide, on his own. The album version is usually kept for countries that dont speak English ie less emphasis on the lyrics and more on the music.
Originalshez
The album version would be a superb opener...Seen some footage of the USA tour and it looks incredible. Night would work as well, or Radio Nowhere.
The Nal
but he's surely going to want to open with something big and familiar to get the newbies on side.. Glory Days...? The Rising..?

Deano2112
Last summer he usually started with Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, Summertime Blues or Out in the Street.

The Nal
there were about 25 different openers last summer, none of the above were more frequent than Radio, Night etc
Wooderson
Obviously. Got the new album... Queen of the supermarket isnt even listenable to me, its awful. Other than that, its alright, couple of belters (wrestler obv). Feel its been a bit rushed though (re: Obama inauguration date) Edited January 15, 2009 by Wooderson
benisright
"Supermarket" has a really beautiful melody though, right? Thats what makes it all the worse for me. The lyrics are cringingly bad. So bad that I won't even post them here for fear I get another ban from the mods. I know that theres lots of holier-than-thou Bruce fans that give out about 14 minute long versions of Mary's Place and "Having a party" but this shite makes Mary's Place sound like "The River". Shockingly poor. 15 song setlist from you ben? hmmm would disagree with you on a few of those to be honest. This is my best shot at predicting a blinding yet realistic Glastonbury setlist, halfway between what I wish and what I think he'll play. Night Lucky Day Jungleland Gypsy Biker Spirit In The Night The River Atlantic City Growin' Up Darkness On The Edge of Town The Rising Badlands - - - 10th Ave Born To Run Rosalita Dancing in the Dark Twist & Shout
Originalshez
i think the set will all depend on how long he's given. If he has 2 hours, I can see it being packed with the songs 'casual fans' might know, if he get longer then he might throw in a few rarities (Incident at glastonbury???)
Wooderson
Should be a longer set list, but i just threw in what songs i think will be played. There'll be a couple more from his recent two albums i think as well. No thunder road or american land in yours? elfimaju
I don't think he'll get much longer than 17/18 songs realistically if he plays. Unless vast exceptions are made this will be a two hour headliner. Or do people in the know want to correct me that Bruce will get the run of Michael's field in June? Didnt put Thunder Road in cause I think it's dead overrated. Good tune, but doesnt do it for me to be honest. Didnt put American Land in cause its a bit boring. If I was to add two or three more tunes to the above setlist to make it more au courant i'd put in Working on a Dream, Outlaw Pete and Radio Nowhere. That takes my setlist to 19. Just about right methinks. 7 songs short of the standard 2hr45 gigs that I saw last May.
sifi
I hope he does play. There will be some seriously disappointed folks around here if doesn't!
Wooderson
But he pretty much always finishes with American Land doesn't he?
