Glastonbury newsletter Jan 2008

From Glastonbury Festival (official)

Hello folks. A very happy new year to you from all of us at Worthy Farm.

TICKET NEWS / DEPOSIT BALANCES DUE

If you're among the tens of thousands of people who've paid a £50 deposit for their 2009 Festival ticket, then you have until 11.59pm on Sunday February 1st to pay the balance of £125. To do that, go to http://www.seetickets.com/g2009/ . That's the same link you should go to if you'd like to buy a ticket outright, or pay your £50 deposit (again, the balance will be due by Feb 1st). But you'd better be quick, because there aren't all that many left.

EMERGING TALENT CONTEST CLOSES THIS MONTH

If you'd like to play at this year's Festival, then you've got a couple of weeks left to enter our 2009 Emerging Talent Competition, in association with Q magazine. The best acts will win slots at the Festival, but you need to get your entry in by January 26th. For all the info and to enter, head over to http://www.qthemusic.com .

MICHAEL WINS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

We're pleased to announce that Michael Eavis's extensive environmental efforts for the Festival will be recognised on January 19th when he is presented with the Green World Award at the Midem music industry conference in Cannes, France. For more information see http://www.midem.com .

EMILY'S FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF 2008

We gave Emily Eavis a shout to find out what her favourite records of last year were. The Top 10 is as follows...

1. Little Joy - Little Joy

2. Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

3. Hot Chip - Made In The Dark

4. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

5. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

6. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

7. Nick Cave - Dig Lazarus, Dig

8. Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night

9. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

10. Coldplay - Viva La Vida

So, Little Joy ( http://www.myspace.com/littlejoymusic ) to headline the Pyramid on Saturday night then?

YOUR LINE-UP / OUR LINE-UP

Over on the official Glastonbury Facebook page we've been asking who you'd like to see play at this year's Festival. Almost a thousand of you have responded so far and the team responsible for booking the acts have certainly been interested in your replies. Head over there to add your thoughts. While we're on the subject of the line-up, nothing has been officially confirmed yet (despite what you may have read), but we are hoping to announce some acts in the next fortnight. Keep it locked to glastonburyfestivals.co.uk for all the very latest official news.

See you next time.
