I plan on getting to wherever we need to get to by train hopefuly but do not have any way of getting between places unless one of you kind folks has car space for me, my 80l rucksack and normal sized daisy tent and my bag of booze!

Am I too late folks? Oh eck! :D

G'day all,

I just discovered this site and have been reading through your posts. I have a ticket to glasto and no-one to go with! This will be my first festival outside of oz, V excited... but i have been told by heaps of ppl im crazy to be going there alone.

Just the other day i decided to head to stonehenge for the solstice and make my way down to glastonbury b4 the festival... but now reading this thread, Avebury looks like a tops option.

Im keen to join in if you'll have me! Keen for the camping in Avebury and Glastonbury... only prob for me is transport. I will be heading to London from spain so can get the train or bus to anywhere near by for a possible lift off someone to & from all places? Would also be very cool if i could pitch my tent with some ppl at the festival.... i am a little nervous going there alone.

If anyone can help out, i will be sure to chuck in for petty etc.

Rach

Yeah, starting to seem like a better idea just to say I'm in! I really want to come and the chances of me being so tied to something I can't is looking so unlikely at this point...

And anyone want to share a pitch with me? Gotta be a good idea to get this sorted now...

Thanks heaps guys, i feel heaps better about going alone now... nearly all the nerves are gone )

i just registered my interest on the camping group, looks like there's gonna be a group the size of a small town camping together!

Im gonna research travel today & see what i can come up with. Hopefully there is public transport between the towns/campsites/festival etc... if anyone can offer any advice that would be tops!

thanks again guys!

You'll love it. It was my first Glasto last year and I did it alone. I camped at and met so many great people. If it wasn't for going alone and camping at the triangle its doubtful I would be doing all this sweet pre-glasto stuff with the folks I met last year.

I'll share a pitch. You can get a lift with me too. You back around Chesvegas then? Head down with me if you like? I'm on about going on the Saturday morning to Avebury.

You said you were coming from spain via London...if you decide you want to join us in Avebury on the saturday and can get yourself to Reading from London on saturday (20min train from paddington), then I'd be happy to give you a lift down from there (theres already 2 others in my car). If not no worries, and either see you on tuesday/wednesday. There is a bus that goes from castle cary (sp), but I dont know much about it as Ive always driven down (apart from 2007 when I coached with seetickets - DONT DO THE SAME!)

Hi Rach! <waves>

Seriously - don't worry at all about coming alone. I've been with a group, with one other person and on my own and actually much preferred the time I went alone!! So much so I'm doing it again this year - I didn't even try and find anyone to go with or ask any of my friends if they were going

If you camp in the triangle, you'll have the best of both worlds - in the day time you can wander around on your own whenever you want to, seeing whichever artists you want to without having to miss someone great/see someone awful because your friend wants to. You can also eat/drink/take a toilet break/etc. whenever you want without having to organise it all with someone else. Then for the evenings/nights/downtimes you can head back to camp, meet up with everyone and have a huge group of wonderful people to dance the night away with, or sit and huddle in front of a camp fire with - perfect!!

Don't worry about the people who tell you you're crazy - I usually find they end up being the ones later saying things like 'oh, I'm sooo jealous', and 'I wish I could do that'. You'll have an incredible time, meet tons of amazing people and won't regret it for a second.

And I'd say don't panic too much about getting to the festival, etc. once you're with the group - I'm certain everyone will make sure you can squeeze in somewhere

Welcome to the boards!

Sam

Sweeeeet - thank you! Yep, back just for now while I sort a few things out again post-travel. I'm gearing up for a move but reckon Glasto will be at the end of my time back up here so that'd be awesome - road trip!!

Hiya

More than welcome to join us at Avebury and Glasto for pre-Glasto excitement :lol:So far there is 11 of us doing Avebury and even more for Glasto Mon/Tue.

Will send you a message later with some details, also am sure someone will be able to help out with travel etc

And as Darren said, see the /index.php?showtopic=111372&hl=triangle"> thread for an option where to camp at Glasto itself

Sorry, haven't had time to catch up with this whole thread for the moment, but it looks very much like festivaldeb and I will be staying over in Glastonbury (town) the weekend prior to Glastonbury. Certainly the Saturday and Sunday nights (20th and 21st June) and maybe the Friday night too (19th). We hope to camp on the Isle of Avalon campsite.

We will be heading onsite to the Festival on the Monday as we'll be working and we can ... (sorry!)

But if there are plans for any *early* meetups around Glastonbury town+, and especially if there are likely to be any Tor based Solstice shenanigans on the Saturday night, we'd be well up for joining in.

+The Riflemans rocks for both beer and atmosphere!

I know paolo999 (also working in our crew) may well be thinking of joining us in Glastonbury, and most likely a non festival attending friend (I know, I know ... ) as well.

WooHoo! Road trip it is then. Will you be in a rush to get back cause I was thinking about staying in the area until the Tuesday depending on what sort of state I manage to get myself in on the Sunday night. Although a repeat of my Sunday night last years state of absolutely smashedness is unlikely, I am quite capable of getting myself THAT twatted again which would probably put me off driving. I thought I was actually going to physically properly die standing in the queue for the coach to the train station last year. Think i'm going to approach it with a more chilled approach this time (remind me of that when I spy Trash City and Shangri-La)
