Glastonbury 5 day festival this year?

Can someone shed some light on what's different this year in terms of it being a 5 day festival?? I've been several years and always gone down on the Wednesday anyway - is the whole site gonna be open for the 5 days with (headlining) acts on?

The major stages will only happen on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday as normal.

It's yet to be confirmed, but it's VERY likely that they'll be a greater amount of entertainment on the Thursday than there's been in previous years, plus some entertainment on the Wednesday for the first time.

I like the idea (history) of there being no listed entertainment on the Wed...........so Wed is for basically getting there, setting up, walking about aimlessly and pretty much chilling out...........Now it sounds as if Wed will be the new Thurs, but there is nothing to replace the old Wed.........Unless they let us on site on the Tue!!!

Haha yeah open the gates Tuesday! God, I am so very excited for this already, it will be nice to take more stuff in on the Wednesday too, I know its a wandering day and night BUT its nice to see things as you wander!

For the first time on Wednesday?! Last year there were DJ sets and various other performances going on.

Lineups etc have rarely been announced ahead of time, but several of the smaller stages have put on a fairly decent showing on the Wednesday for the past few years.

The Banyan Tree Cafe (RIP) used to take great pride in being the first place on site to open (starting at 10am Wednesday), and in 2008 all bar a couple of the various stages in the Greenfields were up and running by about 8pm Wednesday.

yup, but that's ad-hoc entertainment nothing to do with the festival. It's likely that there'll be some "official" stuff this year, tho I understand that currently it's not a definite.

This is seriously good news.

I remember watching Captain in The Crown on the Thursday evening at Glasto 07 - absolutely quality! It's all so exciting on Wedensday and Thursday

I like the fact there's no entertainment on a Wednesday. Being sat in the sun at Brothers bar, getting absolutely hammered and having a laugh with friends.

Usually my favourite night of the festival.
