Guest
I've really invested a lot of time recently in skewered pop, sprawling noise and alt-indie - the genre may not always fit but it's something I'd love to see fill the smaller stages at Glasto in 2009. I'm talking about a lot of the critically acclaimed bands from last year and this upcoming one - HEALTH, Animal Collective, No Age, Deerhunter, Les Savy Fav, Telepathe, Amazing Baby, TV On The Radio, The Mae Shi, Dan Deacon, Wolf Parade to name some of the key players - and I was wondering how likely any of the aforementioned, or indeed others, might be on securing a slot on the line-up? I remember Battles, The National and My Morning Jacket off the top of my head getting not inconsiderate slots in '08, if that's any indication? TheSeventhOne
Yes please. Throw Deerhoof and Cut Copy in there too. Edited January 27, 2009 by TheSeventhOne
Limpet
The National blew me away last year, by far the highlight of a great weekend. Deerhunter have just announced a late May tour in the UK/Ireland I think. Would be great to see them play Glasto this year. Oh and they better get Animal Collective to play, there new album is fantastic.

Limpet
+1 i hadn't heard anything by them last year but a couple of mates were going to see them. they were absolutely amazing.
pezzypops
I'm so glad I stood my ground and didn't go see the Verve with some of my mates. They were truly epic. I was right at the front and I got so emotional during the last song 'About Today' that I nearly cried..... and I'm a grown man!!! (I blame it largely on the amount of alcohol I had consumed, and the fact that I got some news that my cat had died that morning).

Joshuwarr
Would love to see some Times New Viking and Les Savy Fav. Don't forget Lovvers, even if they are from England...
radioshed
TVOTR and Animal Collective would do me fine
Gok
I'd be very amazed if Animal Collective aren't there. Although, with the way things are shaping up, I just hope they don't headline anywhere! I can see Dan Deacon popping over too.
radioshed
Animal Collective have suddenly taken off, especially with the (absolutely sublime) Merriweather Post Pavilion getting accolades all over the shop - in a similar way to when The Flaming Lips brought out 'The Soft Bulletin' in '99, it seems that an oddball psychedelic pop unit with a considerable backlog of great and off-kilter albums are capping off the decade with an album that is being hailed as one of the greatest released in that timeframe. Messy
I could go on for days listing American bands I want to play Glasto. dredg, Modest Mouse, Animal Collective, The New Pornographers, Spoon, Why?(probably want this band to play more than any other at the moment. So, so good live) off the top of my head. The fact that The Decemberists are strongly rumoured by efests is incredible.
hooray!
I really hope AC. Are they big enough to headline John Peel Stage though? TVOTR also. Who's bigger out of AC/TVOTR. I've not seen AC, so I'd hope they'd headline. Also maybe Panda Bear'll play aswell! Saying that The National are pretty small for a headliner, severly underated- I can't beleive they aren't massive! LRW
Oh my God. Its finally happened. I now KNOW I am old. A whole thread full of band names... and I recognised about 3 names. Shoot me now!!
Josie's Cat
I know very little of these bands, so will not add anything, but if they are better than the Verve, bring them on. the Verve wail. And not in a good way. If I was looking after someone's cat, and they were at a festival, and the cat died, I would wait until that person got back before telling them. The cat is dead, why make the person upset at a festival and tell them?
Limpet
Top list! Seeing Tim Harrington storming around the field would be immense - apparently at Pitchfork festival in Chicago last year he dressed up as a sailor and "sailed" around the audience in a big bin. Deerhunter are playing Breeders ATP, can't wait to see them there. Add Holy f**k to that, blew me away last year. I'd also like Of Montreal, ...Trail of Dead, Big Business, Brand New, Broken Social Scene, The Death Set, Explosions In The Sky, Lightning Bolt, Oh No! Oh My!, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Not too much to ask for is it?

.jay.
i really can't be arsed with all the nonsensical genres and sub genres that are becoming more and more ludicrous every week it seems but i do love TV on the Radio and would love to see them this year (hope they play more of their older stuff though tbh) i also really REALLY want to see of Montreal i don't know if they fit into any of these daft genres i just know they're hard to pigeon hole. i also want to see Devendra Banhart or his new band Megapuss. i would imagine you may like this norwegian band Major Parkinson. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendID=67150791 i really like them but can't actually describe them at all they're just bizarre but seem great fun and are supposed be amazing live. Wm.!
The Gaslight Anthem would fit this bill more than fine. How's Glasto on booking this sort of bands?
Petewasbristol
Does Metric come under this section (Although classed as Canadian, they base themselves in the US). They just announced a new album today, would be amazing to see them at Glasto
