Best Glastonbury year ever

Ive tried to do this not all too long ago, had very little success!

EDIT: no i didn't, i tried to do a best preformance ever sorry! And mine is 2008!!! Notsure why, it just seemed that Glasto re established itself as THE summer festival

Last year was great, but then again 2002 with RW.... 94 with Peter Gabriel and who can forget 86 my first....

Toss up between '02 and '08 and I think despite the music being so much better in '02 last year edges it as the better festival

For some reason 99 always stands out for me but I couldn't quanitfy why. TBH, I find it easier to recall the below par ones (the first year when the fence actually worked and the atmos died and the rainy years of 98 and 2007).

2008 was certainly vintage. Flagtopia, Trash City, and oh my - the weather. It just got better and better. I left on Tuesday, but could have easily lazed for another week and watch it all fade back to fields.

1994 for me

the year it all clicked in my head (93 i was too awestruck to really comprhend it)

the weather, people, vibe

and the levellers dropping an amazing set.

but ive enjoyed every single one - except 2007, that was just a chore after so many muddy ones.

hence the pass in 08 and my extreme excitement about 09, gonna be the best yet

07 was the perfect blend of good acts, good people and debauchery. Plus that year they had Bjork.

If ME had the internet he'd come in this thread and declare every year the BEST GLASTONBURY EVER.

1992.

The weather was baking hot all weekend and even though it was the first year the convoy wasn't allowed in there was still a massively counter-culture edge to the place that is a bit missing nowadays.

Musical highlights included the Primal Scream/Orb double header on the NME stage, The Shamen, Tom Jones, the Levellers on the Pyramid (so much better performance than the oft-qouted 1994 show), the Experimental Sound stage featuring a 14 hour Underworld show in William's and all the sound systems around the site that kept it going 24 hours a day and at nose bleed volume. None of this everyone on site trying to get up the railway track after hours to squeeze into LV/TS/Shangri La for some late-night dancing; there was dancing all night everywhere on site.

Them were the days.

Almost certainly 1995. A combination of my youth and the fact it was only my second year, and of course the weather (was this the hottest Glasto ever?), made this my quintessential festival.

Noticed a piece in the Metro this morning stating that this has been the coldest winter since 1995. There is some evidence from current weather models that this leads to a good, early, hot summer . . .

Another '95 for this year perhaps? We can only hope.

08 was the best year, because it was my first. But seeing as the line up looks so brilliant for this year it's going to top it by a country mile. And if the weather is anything like it was last year then it's going to be brilliant.

Of all I've been to its got to be 2002 > 1995 > 2008 > 1999 > 1997 > 2007.

They've all been ace but its the weather for me that ruins everything and 2007, whilst having some great acts, the sound on the main stage was so appalling it was unbelievable and getting everywhere was a ball ache. We left after the Arctics finished knowing that they never ever did encores and because the speakers were so bad, we missed hearing them come back on and doing Diamonds are Forever. That added to not being able to sit ANYWHERE bar the tent for 5 days was just an utter pain in the arse. I've been quite lucky with the weather though other than then and 97.

I think for absolute brilliance 2000 was the best, it was my first time at Glastonbury and the excitement never left! 2007 comes a close 2nd

2000 cos i jumped the fence & it was my 1st Glasto, 2004 i thought the line up was spot on and 2008 because it's the 1st 1 i went to with my girlfriend
