I might need to set my alarm clock for this !

But a swift , vodka red bull and grapefruit mix should get me out of my tent.

I camp in Big Ground so not far to travel !

:D

As Tugger said, that's a bloody shame :)

Well I propose to move the meeting back 24 hours, how about...

12 Noon on Thursday at the Red Flag

It can be a pre drinks drink, before moving down to the cider bus later.

Show your interest here in this thread, no need for lists, just turn up and say Hi.

Nearer the day I'll try and think up some sort of suitable attractive garb to wear for everyone to home in on, or maybe some will be wearing an efest shirt? How about an efest footie shirt ?

TSU we can compare photo's. "oooh, I like that up-skirt shot of the blonde cheerleader"

hombrederayo, you won't have to worry about spewing up later 'cause of no football, or is that normal anyway

No doubt this thread wont die out in the next 64 days :D Oh, 65 days to the Real Ale Meet !

I think in the Trolley thread I saw a picture. This felah had taken 2 of them (TWO!) He had a nice spacious open area inside his tent, the trolley was set up like a table and had both poly's set up on top already to place glass underneath and pour.

It's a big haul, but you won't be lugging them twice ;)

If there's a group of you then definitely worth taking a polypin but if there's only a couple of you going then I'd say only worth the effort of carting it in if it's cold weather. Took a poly of Kings & Barnes (now RIP sadly) Festive in 98 which lasted two of us for 2 days no problem mainly due to the sh1te-awful cold weather that kept the ale in drinkable nick - certainly wouldn't have lasted more than a few hours the following year which was scorchio. What we do these days is take a 4-pint screw-top container & funnel & then fill the container with whatever me & my missus decide on at The Red Flag (particular favourites last year were O'Hanlon's Yellowhammer, Butcombe Gold & Woodforde's Mud In Yer Eye) - even if it's really hot between two of us we'll have supped 4 pints before the beer starts to warm up.

ooh, now you've got me thinking  They sell polys of London Pride at the brewery shop off Hogarth roundabout in Chiswick. Any one know how long 'fresh beer' stays fresh ? Maybe if I drink a good few pints before I go, it wont be so bad to carry ;)

Yep we were thinking of a polypin too, we have a campervan which clearly helps a lot. My current idea is stopping at Badger Breweries on the way down, a pin of Champion would just be the perfect festival drink I reckon..

at the risk of being shouted down, anyone got any tips for own brand bitter? ie Sainsburys do that Parkin but ive never had it.

Thing is, my budget is restricted this year and whilst i will be taking a few slabs of premium ale, i will also be taking some cheaper grunt beer (normally stones).

anyone know of any own-brand ale which isnt terrible?

ha, yeh, thats true. All for one and all that!

Im camping this year with some real cooking lager drinkers (fosters all the way for this bunch). I may bring them down to the meet to open their eyes.

In fact, what is the policy on non-ale drinkers attending the meet? Can it be used as an educational device to ween them off the bad stuff?

I'm a novice when it comes to Real Ale, but from what I have had, when away in the country etc. I've really liked, and its ranged from light and flavoursome, really nice pint,

To nice, but f**king strong

So I may attend, if any of you chaps are willing to point out some of the good stuff.

And the GBBF, the Great British Beer Festival, is the "Glastonbury" of the ale world, with hundreds of beers from everywhere all collected up and offered out in West London in early August. Go if you have the chance!
