What a miserable thread. You're right it's not very rock 'n' roll. I always find the crowds at Glasto quite relaxed and I usually start a gig towards the back and move my way forwards as the crowd obviously moves about quite a lot. It's not a supermarket with a queue it's a mass crowd standing in unreserved places with people usually dancing, if you don't want people pushing past you/into you move to the back or join them. Saying 'they should have got there earlier I have paid for my place' it's bullshit man and attitudes like that have no place at Glastonbury IMHO.

As for people singing to loudly, they've paid their money and it's music so they're allowed to do what they want. Christ if I was enjoying myself whilte talking to my friend or singing and some chap complained to me I'd be very angry. Moaning sods the lot of yeh!

I really hate it when people take loads of pictures. A few pics I have absolutely no problem with but a few years ago I went to see Pearl Jam at Wembley Arena and had to watch practically the whole gig on the girl in fronts camera screen because she just wouldn't take it down and it was right in front of my face and blocked my view of the stage. When she did take it down it was because she was taking pictures of herself and her mates so I had a flash going of in my face.

It was an amazing gig but ruined by some stupid woman who's pics of the band probably never came out very well as we weren't exactly close to the stage.

Yay, a chance for a moan!

I got down to the Pyramid for Neil Diamond last year really really early, and then these two silly girls with enormous sunglasses that make people look like giant flies excuse-me-d themselves right in front of me, and spent the whole time knocking me, asking me for a light, clambering on and off their pals' shoulders and shouting to each other "why doesn't he play any of his famous songs?" (when he was, obviously). Arrggghhhh.

I dont mind people squeezing by and weaving in and out of the crowd, its just what you expect at a gig, just as long as its not a big tall f**ker who comes and stands directly in front of me!

People on shoulders does my head in tho. at Biffy gig in December this wee guy by me turns and asks if id help him get up on the shoulders of the guy directly in front of me. he looked at me like I was off my head when I said no.

As I stand 6-3 I am very mindful of being an obstruction, so tend to get to gigs early so that anyone standing nearby has a choice to move to have a good view. When the gig is just about to start I tend to see who is standing behind, and frequently let anyone shorter stand in front - afterall, it is nice to get on with each other!

i have to say that it is annoying when people pointlessly push past you to 'try and find their friends' and just standing infront its made worse by the fact im not the tallest though i have nothing wrong with people genuinely needing to get infront.

But bad singing in your ear is just pathetic. Its a gig, people are going to sing it is beneficial to the atmosphere and if you find it annoying well its a case of you moving frankly, if you want to listen to the band on their own stick your headphones in and listen to the album or a live CD please.

sorry positive thread now B)

I like it when people don't forcibly push past and actually have need to get infront

I like it when everyone sings along at gigs

I hate smoochy couples. If your going to spend the entire gig making out, just turn on the cd player and f**k off to the tent.

That and; cameras, umbrellas, flags, people on shoulders (especially guys), crowd surfing when its not appropriate, excuse me ers, people sitting down when everyone else is standing up (then seeming angry when you step on them), people who get very excited by the tv camera...

theres probably more. Not surprising that one of my favourite gigs i ever went to, was Feeder...when i was working on the bar and i got to watch their warm up with the only other people being the sound crew. Fantastic B)

Mate i think you're just f**king stupid. It may seem a badass thing to say on this do good topic but for christs sake. If someone says Excuse-me-ers (or "pal, get out my effing way") and you say no they look elsewhere for a gap and its not your loss. if you are stupid enough to fall for the excuse-me-ers, then it is our own fault.

I'm an 'excuse me er.' I'm short and want to see over all the tall bastards. I find once i get about five rows from the front i can't get past anyone, but am generally happy cos i can see.

I don't blame tall people near the front, just cos they're tall does that make their eyesight any better?

I just like to be in front of them.

I'm confused, singing at gigs is wrong? but only the other day I saw a thing on here about best singalongs with artists at Glastonbury.

It's a f*****g gig, I'm going to sing along, dance or whatever else. It's not a library.

You know that bit where everybody (except for some of the people on this thread) sing along with a band, and the band clearly love it, and all the audience get goosebumps and it's a magical moment. Yeah, I like that and I hope it never stops.

I seem to have upset a lot of people by complaining about singing at a gig. I'll clarify. It's not singing per se that bothers me, I love a sing song much as anybody, it was just this one Jam gig where I had this annoying tosser right behind me screaming down my ear every song for the whole show, out of tune, to the point where I couldn't hear the actual band.

I do ask to get past people to get nearer the front but only if i've spotted a gap where me an my mates can stand further up.

The thing that annoys me the most is when i've been waiting for a band to come on since the doors opened to the gig and then about 15 minutes before they come on stage a group of people arive make their way toward the front are stood behind me and my mates and ask us to move out their way, the usual response is 'F*** Off i've been here since *insert time here*' then they get angry with you for not moving.

And in regards to the singing thing it makes the atmosphere a lot better with everyone belting out the words, in tune or not in tune.

What I hate is flags spoiling your view or the stage. I was watching Scouting For Girls (My sis dragged me since dad wouldn't go) on the otherstage and had a perfect view until some w*nker with a flag came infront of me and completely ruined it. I reckon they should ban flags, because it's totally inconsiderate plus these people are usually only there for the media not for the actual festival experience.

Cheers,

i have no problem with 'excuse-me-ers' as if there are these so called people here that do your head in by making out, being tall, waving flags etc. arent you going to want to move?

im sure you wont want to move back?

maybe your just too polite i dunno, but i paid my money so im there to watch and will happily push about untill i can.

is my view on this :O

At least they say excuse me. There's a lot of people at gigs and festivals that will quite happily brage straight through you sending your pint flying without even acknowledging you and alot of the time when you're not even in the thick of the crowd when it would have just been as easy for then to go round you.
