WEATHER 2009 !

I have only been in 2005 & 2007 so mud is always on my mind.

One good weather memory in 2005 I had just arrived on the Friday morning, done all the walking camping stuff and collapsed with a beer and family on the green grass hill in front of Pyramid stage, sun was out, I think Elbow were playing (??) and I thought I was in heaven.

Would be great to find some soft dry green grass this year. Think I will.

Im my eye's he's a nazi and you're nazi sympathizer.

what kind of deranged moron likes it when its muddy, because rain = mud

You can't sit down anywhere, its hard to dance, it saps the energy out of the place, you explore less as getting about is so difficult & everyone sticks to the paths, people use f**king umbrellas, there are so many reasons to dispise the mud, but i can't think of one in favour of rain

i've still not given up up that it'll be nice

NO, horrible, heavy continuous rain = mud

just a light cooling shower = just a light cooling shower

why can't some retards just accept that some people don't like wall to wall sunshine- it can be uncomfortable and just as unpleasant as a bit of rain

some people on here are just acting like young children that can't get their own way

Updated: Glastonbury Festival's weather prediction

The last few Glasto's have seen a mixture of washed out mayhem with heavy rain causing flooded tents and slippery mud and basking sunshine. So what will this year be like?

BBC West weatherman Richard Angwin takes an advance look at the prospects for Glastonbury 2009:

With the start of the Glastonbury Festival now nearly upon us, the weather picture is becoming clearer, at least for the first few days. One thing is certain, Glastonbury 2009 will be the warmest and sunniest for quite a few years. Unfortunately, by the weekend things could change and the traditional mud bath is a slim, but very real, possibility.

For the next few days it will remain dry and bright with temperatures perhaps as a high as 23 degrees by the time the first festival goers start to pitch their tents. (The ground could be quite dry and dusty.)

Wednesday and Thursday will be warm and dry with light winds and plenty of sunshine, so a good sunscreen and plenty of water and strongly recommended. Friday could well remain dry and quite sunny with temperatures in the low twenties but there could be a few heavy showers around Worthy Farm during the late afternoon and evening.

Although much of the weekend will also be dry, warm and fairly sunny the risk of isolated, slow-moving thunderstorms will increase. The risk of one occurring over Pilton is probably about 40%, high enough to make wellies and waterproofs worth taking even if they hopefully spend the whole festival taking up useful room in the corner of your tent.

Over the next 24 hours we will try to pinpoint the show

Well i've been watching from afar today, as people finally see the stress get to them.

Things are still very much 50/50, and I'd imagine the weekends weather is not something that can be predicted to accuracy before we leave for the festival.

I'll admit it will rain, the question is how much, how long for and when. We could get pissed on, we could get trickled on, I have seen two forecasts today that predict these things.

This thread seems to have got negative, when arguably it shouldn't have

Ahh, *uck it! Just checked up on the weather situation after 3 days away from the boards and look whats happened in that short time. Can't I leave you all in charge of anything while I'm away

Right - triple water proofing tent - even sleeping bag at this rate, testing wellies in the pond for leaks, packing about 2 million bin liners, and away we go.

Always changes at the last minute - every year. Thing is, this is where the weather is going now - more rain in the West, more unsettled and changeable weather, more extremes. And weak Azores High's - arghhhh!

Ensembles for the 06z run are showing the operational as pretty much the wettest run, but it's not really an outlier, I think all of the runs are going for at least some precipitation from Friday onwards with the greatest chance of rain on Sat and Sun.
