From the BBC Monthly Outlook

Monday 22 June 2009 to Sunday 05 July 2009

“Little change.”

As we head towards July, early indications show that high pressure will remain across southern parts with the highest temperatures to be found in south-east England.

Northern parts of the UK will probably see more wet weather. However, there are expected to be some clear spells, which could mean that night-time temperatures in the north-west fall below the seasonal average.

Starting to look pretty nice. I'm taking wellies and waterproofs even if it's 30 degrees though... the Gods of Pilton don't like being made fun of. Treat them with respect and sacrifice a pair of waterproof trousers per year and they may treat us to some sunshine!

Great to see Mr Murr on the case again. I think we must all owe you a good deal of beer tokens after the last few years!

I promised meself that I defo wouldn't look at anything even the merest hint weather related this year until there was less than a week to go ... I think I lied

The old Metcheck long(ish) range jobbie is looking kinda handsome at the mo :) just so long as Tuesday stays as Tuesday and doesn't even think about gracing us with it's most unpleasantly damp presence a tad early mind you !

BBC have updated their monthly forecast...

Monday 22 June 2009 to Sunday 28 June 2009

"Westerly wind prevails."

The Azores high dominates over southern Britain during this week and it will be breezy and showery elsewhere.

Fairly typical summer conditions occur this week, giving a north-west/south-east divide in weather types. Showers may occur anywhere but will be prevalent in the north-west of the country.

Sunshine amounts will be around the seasonal average, although south-eastern Scotland may be above this average because of the shelter of the Highlands.

Temperatures are also likely to be average for the time of year but East Anglia should see temperatures a couple of degrees above this average. South-east Scotland could also see warmer conditions.

Still quite positive

"Azores High!"

Oh, yes - this is what its all about. Without it we may as well just bring the canoe.

Ideally this has to stabalise however; still indications its wobbling around its Azores axis a bit, reducing its influence at certain times throughout the week.

Latest from the Met Office also looks promising :-

UK Outlook for Saturday 20 Jun 2009 to Monday 29 Jun 2009:

The weather next weekend and into the following week is expected to be dominated by high pressure. This will mean plenty of dry and warm weather, particularly for central and southern areas with some good spells of sunshine. However, outbreaks of rain are likely at times for Scotland and Northern Ireland, and some showery outbreaks may extend a little further south across parts of northern England and Wales on Sunday. Temperatures will be generally near normal at first, but becoming warm, especially for central and southern areas. Thereafter, generally little change. Plenty of dry, fine and warm weather is expected, though rain or showers in the north may spread further south into some central areas over time, though dry and warm weather should last throughout across the south.

I've used this 9 day rain forecast for the last 5 Glastos or so and it's nearly always been bang on.

http://weather.unisys.com/gfsx/9panel/gfsx...9panel_eur.html

Currently looks clear Wed/Thu. This far out that's as far as it goes but the High pressure zone is clearly moving east and there's clearly an Atlantic front on its way to hit about Friday or so. All will be a lot clearer in 3 days once it covers right up until the Sunday.

Now I'm no weather geek but just spotted links to these on NW and they don't look very pleasant to me

Indeed, foolish not to, but I'm not planning for extreme wet weather, but any decisions will be taken the night before (when I pack). Also, won't really pay any attention to any of the forecasts until then (and will subsequently check forecasts on site each morning).

I was going to get some more comfortable Hunters wellies, but, based on the forecasts, will stick with my el cheapos.
