if the rain doesn't come til later on Saturday I'll be more than happy. Three roasting hot, sunny days, followed by some showers Saturday and Sunday, won't be long enough to soak all of my clothes and make the ground unwalkable and I have no problem with getting wet, it's more the not being able to sit down for five days, low temperatures and perpetually sodden, uncomfortable clothes that pisses me off. Would much rather have the rain late than early in the festival.

Chillax - it all looks good still; I have particular enthusiasm for this:

The ECM is slightly less keen on this although it is slowly set to turn less settled with increasing chance of a shower. The ensembles keep the pressure higher over the UK than either of ECM and GFS, restricting further the chance of wet weather.

It's all up in the air still and looking very good for the early part of the fest. I'd say, at worst a good 2004, at best... anything is possible.

It rained a fair bit in the morning, causing mud, and then again during McCartney. Pissed down Sunday afternoon as well. We've had worse but there was a lot of mud. f**king bastard mud.

where's that nice Steve Murr fella? - he seems like he knows what he's on about, always manages to cheer me up with his positive forecasts.

On a positive note, I remember driving down the M4 on the way to Glasto in 97 and Radio 1 reporter was saying there's sheet rain on site that hasn't stopped for hours. There was talk of cancelling the festival. It had been raining for days and the site was a disaster.

That aint gonna happen this year - so it's all good! ;)

Remember last year, 2008, the best one in years etc? Well Jackone had this report on the 19th June last year (scale was 1-5 then):

Summary

There really is a major difference between the control run and the ensembles,

The control shows unsettled conditions, I'll stick with a 2 forecast for the festival, indicting a higher than average chance of a wet festival.

However the ensembles make this very uncertain, with the best ensembles runs seen since Monday.

As you can see, plenty of room for change and on Glasto Tuesday last year we had this

The score is therefore reverting to a 2, with more chance of a unsettled festival than a heat wave, however it all depends on the rain late Thursday into Friday, if this rain misses Glastonbury, then the conditions should be generally not that bad.

He got it BANG on, rain Thurs into Friday - that was a 2 or a 4 on the 1-10 scale. I make a 6 good at the moment.

Metcheck didn't turn out like I thought it would. No idea where they got that forecast from, must be a few people planning on visiting somerset working for metcheck and playing with the forecast. Not how I read the 12z GFS at all!! (but then I'm hardly Michael Fish!)

Jackone explained in less dramtic terms what I was getting at. Downgrades all round for next weekend.

But, I'd take a couple of days of sun and then a couple of occasional rain. FFS I've got used to it over the years. And there's still time for it to improve.
