Cover Versions

I'm just listening to a couple of covers of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" and both are really good - considering that JT's version sucked.

Also my favourite versions of songs like "Kiss Me", "It Ain't Me Babe" and "Never Ending Story" are all covers...

But some covers are terrible... such as - Leona Lewis and "Run" - that other one of XShiter and "Halelujah"

Do you like listening to covers, or do you prefer originals in most cases...

That's like asking 'do you like food?'

Some food is bloody fabulous, and a joy to behold - home made is often a good option.

And then there's McDonalds - mass produced shite that a lot of people seem to enjoy.

I like covers if I respect both the original artist and the artist who does the cover, and if the resulting cover does something a bit different or adds something to the song.

The original isn't always better in my opinion though - I mean, I really like Galaxie 500 for example, but their singer was poor. If someone covered one of his songs, it could be an improvement on the original.

So basically it's a case of "sometimes" covers can be good. Many more are poo!
