moz4pm
i'm not their biggest fan but i would've watched them, would've been perfect for late afternoon in the sun with a nice pint of cider, step up weezer
noalarms
I'm gunna say The Cure, Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Weezer The Cure mainly because almost every year one of the headliners is the winner of NME god like genius award. eg last year was the manics

kaosmark2
You are to a certain extent if you think they can headline! I really like the band but no way on earth would they headline Reading and Leeds, their last album proved that.
kaosmark2
Only for the last two years. Before that, nay. And last year i think they were originally planning to give it to morrissey.
thomasowen
Is there really any point just us arguing this out again? The Cure have a legendary status, a devoted fanbase and enough sales to headline festivals. Album sales aren't the only indication of how much of a draw a band are. HoTWire
Maximo Park have a new album out this year, they played mid mainstage before, but I guess they've headlined the tent before so may not want to do it again (although it is bigger now ). pigshair123
reckon theres any chance of paul wellar being the more old school headliner?
Budweiser
The Cure have got to headline one of the days surely... *dreams*.
festivalsareforthegrey
Im hoping for the cure on the day that KOL are playing as I have seen them twice ( God if your listening)
readingyid
I think the doves would make an excellent nme headliner .
Lithium05
Probably be a band Ive never heard of, Pete Doherty or one of the many libertines impersinators and someone like Funeral for a Friend as a misguided attempt to bring back some rock fans... Megadeth would be ideal for an Arctic Monkeys alternative but will never happen.
glimmers_of_hope
YYY's are too big surely. Last time I saw them at Reading they were pretty high on the main stage. Glasvegas are a shoe in but agree, their sets are short. Bloc Party + Maximo Park both headlined nme stage on 1 album in previous years. I'd be very suprised if it is the Cure, they are too big despite last album. It can't be Elbow if they are playing V this year. Hopefully, whoever headlines doesn't make me think too much about missing the headliners on the main stage.
rexclark
what about The Charlatans for the older band? Suppose it's just another rumour.
Un Adepte Des Raconteurs
anyone else starting to think the Glasvegas, Charlatans, Enter Shikari rumour may not be too far wrong? god help us if it's true, but we did have Klaxons, View, Ash a few years ago. thomasowen
Charlatons are no where near big enough to headline NME in my opinion, neither are Enter Shikari, neither are glasvegas (though they WILL headline)
noalarms
I reckon a bad the size of Cure could headline it this year as the festival has to look at the competition from the main stage and as these bands are probably three of the biggest in Britain at the minute and the Radio 1 tent's size was increased last year a bigger band could definitely be got. moss265
Historically, NME Headliners are usually bands that would play 4th/5th from top Main Stage. Still doubting Glasvegas are big enough, although neither were the view

moss265
I agree mainly but I would say that Manics last year would have been able to play 2nd/3rd on the main stage. I'm praying for Biffy Clyro to headline NME, preferably when Arctic Monkeys headline main stage. Then again if Biffy just play crap from Puzzle and no older tunes I would just go and see Arctic Monkeys instead.
jackh131
I do agree the Cure would be fantastic although they would pack the tent out to the max. I think Biffy Clyro/The Cure/Glasvegas would be nice as long as Biffy and The Cure didn't clash with Radiohead. I write Biffy more in hope than expectation
