Fourth headliner - U2 maybe?

Could the fourth headliner be U2? I know they're not rumoured or anything but a friend told me at the weekend that they are planning a tour this year because his mate (that could just as easily be mate's sister's cousin's mate's dog down the pub) said he's just been given the order to construct the stage set.

Possibility? Maybe? They fit in with the whole ethos of Glasto, are plenty big enough to headline... but would they want too much cash?

What say you?

i heard they wouldn't play because they weren't allowed final editing rights on the tv footage

so no, they don't fit into the whole glasto ethos- he's a jumped up egotisitical image hound- with a hugely overinflated sense of self worth

however; i would like it if he slipped over face first in some proper glasto mud and everyone stopped to point and laugh at him

for my money theyve not produced an album worth buying since zooropa.

like many bands they had their prolific high point and are no slowing decending into repettion, while Bono's ego gets larger and larger.

I saw tham on the last tour and they are still great, but its about the old tracks, not the new

I think they were going to play a few years ago but pulled out because they weren't happy with the fact it was being televised, or something to that effect. Shouldn't really have been a surprise since Glasonbury has been filmed for TV since at least 1994!!!

Bono keeps banging the drum for issues such as third world debt but where would he have found a better and more receptive audience than the Glasonbury Festival? Its the perfect place for him to say his piece, and it would have been televised thereby reaching a much larger audience than just the Glastonbury punters.

This is the same Bono (and co) who is always having a go at the British and Irish Goverments for not donating enough of tax payers money to this sort of issue, which is a bit hypocritical given how they deposit their millions in off-shore accounts to avoid paying the very tax he says the goverments should be contributing!!

Although Im sure they'd put on a hell of a show, I for one have lost all respect for them and hope they dont play. :O

Man I knew I'd heard their new single before... ripping off Manson, that's weak.

U2 suck and Bono is a dick

(Don't tell anyone but I still get a kick out of War and The Joshua Tree once in a while)
