Vinnyb
Rite then, flares!!! anyone taken them onto site before? Do security stop you bringing them in if they find them in your bags? Never really considered them before but noticed quite a few set off last year (during the enemy most memorably, looked like a right laugh) and wouldn't mind taking a couple in this year for the crack Just wondered if anyone knew where you can get them from and how safe are they to set off, don't you need a bucket of water to extinguish them in, or is that just wat the health and safety brigade would have you believe? Block
If its muddy flares will be the last thing you want! I normally just wear shorts myself or a pair of jeans at night that I can tuck into me wellies. Can't see why they would be banned though. superdry
Quote from the Fine Guide on the Official Site. Light My Fire * The end of the Festival is usually marked by a spectacular fire show in the Circus Field. Hopefully nothing else will go up in flames at the Festival! * Candles are dangerous and useless in a field; use torches in and around tents. * Only buy wax flares from authorised festival traders – check their accreditation. * Light fires away from tents, using the wood supplied – never from hedges and trees. * Don’t dig fire holes. A cow with a broken leg wouldn’t thank you - if it could speak! * Watch out for flying embers and sparks – they can start a fire even from distance. * Don’t burn plastic, please. Quite apart from anything else it stinks. * NEVER use petrol or paraffin to start or revive a fire. * If you cook, do it outside. * Always change camping gas outside tents – even if it is raining. * When changing gas cylinders, ensure gas tap is in the ‘off’ position, otherwise the gas will ignite when the cylinder is pierced and you could get badly burned. * Campsite wardens & security teams look out for fires, accidents and risky situations. * Should you discover a fire, raise the alarm, check out people nearby are OK, and tell your nearest campsite warden about the problem. Immediately! * The legislation about not smoking inside in public places applies in tented venues on site - just as much as it does in your favourite club. You will help our fire stewards by keeping to the law!
Matt 100
Think fireworks would be a more entertaining option
Pinhead
Once upon a time flares and fireworks were commonplace. Since fence year 2002 though, hardly see any around now. They are not officially allowed, though some people seem to get a few past security each year.
Superscally
You'd be a retard if you brought them in. They're really f**king dangerous, especially in a crowded area. If I see you with one I'd even sacrifice a pint of Brothers to soak you, if not put the flare out...

chimpy
back in 2004, just after macca a couple in front of us let a rocket off - it was quite a big bugger too. Within 10 minutes security came and ejected the lot of them, no excuses - took them all and said you can get your stuff on monday. Worse thing is that we looked at their stuff after they had gone and the gits had stolen some of our beer! Karma huh?

r0cky
Are they really that dangerous? I mean its a burning flame on a stick that boatmen carry to alert attention of coastguards when in trouble etc.

jamiejc
NO! Very dangerous, one landed on my mate's tent when he was passed out, lucky I was there to see it happen, used half a bottle of cider to put it out, not a happy camper about that... so NO!
