The Third Headliner

Who do you think the third headliner is? I know there are other threads discussing this a little but I feel it's the biggest talking point for Download at the moment. I mean it seems to me that none of the bands on Neil's TBC list are big enough to headline, personally I can't see Heaven and Hell headlining. I think the most obvious option at the moment would be Fall Out Boy, just because I can't see Download pulling out someone that will live up to the build up. If you'd have asked me before last night's announcement I would have said Marilyn Manson, but it seems he's playing second fiddle to Slipknot. So who do you think? Realistically, not who you want, cause I sure as shit don't want to see Fall Out Boy headline.

Id be well happy with rammstein, iron maiden,blink182, ACDC,RATM, Aerosmith or greenday.

im ok with nickleback,muse

dont want faith no more, fall out boy or heaven and hell

Luckily im happy with more than im not, but the ones id be 'well happy' with are less likely.

I reckon it has to be a poppy punky emoish etc type of band.

Fact is the kids won't like Def Leppard, Slipknot is metaly and won't appeal to that kind of market and then there's nothing for them.

I think it's highly unlikely to be Greenday or Blink 182, so I'm gonna guess Fall Out Boy simply because they are a big name and I think they'd pull in the Kerrang crowd.

To be honest, if it's not Faith No More - and I know deep down it won't be - then I'm not really fussed which of the others it is. FNM, I'd love. But it's a cracking line-up already.

Fall Out Boy ... I don't know. There's such goodwill on the official boards at the moment, and I wouldn't have thought the Festival Director would be posting such "I'm even more exicted than you are!" messages if they had FOB to announce as third headliner. Obviously, they get what they can get, but all the comments point to someone a bit more impressive.

I'm not sure the organisers think a great deal about the demographic they are appealing to and are probably more limited to the big bands that say yes. I personally think it's heaven and hell. The DL organisers weren't happy when they self confirmed so I think thats your headliner.

Not really into FOB. Are they big enough to headline?

yeah i thought FOB (in fact i posted it on that 'guess the headliners' thread) and agree that it'll be a pop/punk band to please all the kids. however, to reach the calibre that the final headliner should be, i'd have to say that (even though i am not a massive fan) blink 182 is the only one that fits the bill imo..

Yeah, FOB are just about big enough. Five albums, huge sales, very popular. But nobody would consider them a real coup, or anything. It's a headliner on paper - just - but not remotely impressive. For example, they almost certainly wouldn't headline any other festival, whereas MCR might. (He says, expecting to be proved wrong by some knowledgable person).

Heaven and Hell - no source, but I did read somewhere they weren't going to be playing Sabbath songs. On that basis, I'd question whether they were headline material. Well, I'd question it anyway.

Really hope it isn't Fallout Boy, but I would be offended if it was Nickelback. I mean there are already enough great bands going to justify me buying a ticket, but Nickelback are the musical equivalent of beige if ever there was one.

I think Green Day is slowly becoming a distinct possibility, there's no way it's going to be Rammstein, Maiden or AC/DC.

Black Sabbath with ozzy! looking at the layout on the DL website it doesn't look like any band has been confirmed for Friday(think limp biz might have to do Friday) but I’m thinking a big announcement in a few weeks and there going to have a massive ozzfest day again, there is no proof to this nor have i got a friend who's uncles dogs friend is ITK it's just a feeling.

TBH I think it is probably it will be Nickleback or Fall OUt Shit - unfortunatley.

I am still crossing my fingers for a big punk/alternative headliner like Blink - however should both Blink and NFG be confirmed the bastards will put them on at the same time, and it would be no contest as to who I would see!!!

Thinking about the Friday headliner in relation to the tone of the day, Saturday has Pedulum, Prodigy, Manson & Slipknot which all fit together, as does the classic rock of Sunday. The Friday headliner needs to appeal/fit with the 90's stylings of Korn, Limp etc...I'm thinking Greenday or Rage
