podge52
Just read on another thread that someone was saying that a certain band that may be playing at glasto will sound better indoors. This got me thinking. Personally i think that bands/music always sound/look better outdoors. So what do the rest of you think considering that even in tents bands/music is essentially outdoors. I do like indoor gigs but just not the same buzz for me.
Bradders
Better indoors, for almost every band. The smaller the venue the better, basically.
TheBoyInTheBubble
My preferences is outdoors for party bands and indoors for more serious introspective stuff. Obviously darkness changes everything and it's outdoors all the way then.
fraz
What you dont get outdoors or in a tent(to some extent) is the sound bouncing off walls. So the theory being you get a different sound unless the wind is blowing. Personally the sound outdoors is alot better in good weather. But the only time the sound is bad indoors is when the levels or all out. (One of my pals Dj's quite a bit so i trust his thoughts) Edited February 20, 2009 by fraz
Wm.!
I prefer indoors. My favorite festival Lowlands has only got tents. Even the mainstage is in a tent which fits 30.000 people.
paulo999
For me they are splittable. The 'mega' stuff, outdoors, specifically the Pyramid because of the amphitheatre. You need to get close enough to avoid the perennial sound problem, but once in awhile you can turn round and go "Wow". For me, the Who were fab for that. Conversely, as "TheBoy..." says, there's some bands that work better indoors. I'd say most really. It's just that some of the big ones have (very possibly intentionally) evolved a 'stadium sound'.
