NME - useless waste of paper?

It's always been snide and posturing as a music rag. I too remember the days of Sounds (my fave) and Melody Maker.... NME was just better at being popularist: jumping from one band to the next and dumping the last one like a cheap whore. Now it's about the only choice if you want to grab something physical to read over the cornflakes which is reasonably up to date and for that reason I have bought it often... well it's marginally better than the The Sun... isn't it? Well... it's about music.. isn't it? *coat*

I used to read NME reasonably regularly (I was young, forgive me). Then I realised it was a bit rubbish and stopped. Since then I've not found anything to replace it with.

Anyone recommend any decent music magazines around at the moment? I know there's a plethora of websites I can (and do) read but I've always liked the tactile sensation of reading something physical.

As an aside my Dad used to write some gig reviews for Sounds. Although as this was before the internet existed I doubt there's much evidence of this anywhere so I could just be making this up.

I'm not though.
