I remeber this cropping up my inbox a couple o months back from rammstein:

While Rammstein are recording their newest studio album in sunny California, the first snow has fallen today in Berlin. You have sent us a lot of questions since news reached you via the Rammstein website about the recordings for the new album. Many rumours have flooded the internet since then. The production of the album will take some time and a release isn’t planned before autumn 2009. If everything goes according to plan, we’ll hear the first single before summer 2009 and be able to greet Rammstein at the beginning of their tour before the end of the year. Lots of people on the official forums don't believe efestivals.

Lots of them are also very stupid. I saw one guy earlier saying he thought it was going to be AC/DC. When it was pointed out to him they were playing Paris on the Friday, he said something like "I still don't see why that rules them out".

The 3rd headliner had better be popular!!! I think it'll be Heaven & Hell but Im not sure that will go down so well with the Download boardies...

im 70% sure its going to be Faith No More & if not it will be Blink182. If its not i'll eat my hat! Faith No More are one of them bands that could play 2nd top at some festivals and headline others.like Slipknot, Offspring, Linkin Park etc I reckon theyv spoke to Reading & Sonisphere and wont get headlining slots there this year but im pretty sure Download would of offered them the headling slot the FNM management would of wanted. and thats why they'l play there..and theyl get announced monday. For Download it would be a great UK Festival Exsclusive and would make up for last years joke of a lineup!

I think that with the hype they've created it needs to be either: Green Day, Maiden, GNR, Blink or Rammstein. Ie. Someone that the more casual punters know more than 2 songs of!

Heaven and Hell shouldn't headline in my opinion. As I said before it would be like Stone Sour headlining because Slipknot are big enough, without the Ozzy songs (of which they don't play any) they lose their Sabbath credentials.

To be fair I don't see how Rammstein warrant this much fuss. I would marginally prefer Faith No More, but neither are worth a countdown.

I think when it comes to Rammstein, the Download Festival goers have wanted Rammstein since Download started

The countdown clock is a new development. Given the way it's made everyone piss themselves with excitement, expect to see it touring this year.

Nobody is worth this much fuss.

I reckon it's probably gonna be Faith No More.

I think the reason for the countdown is because Download is more than likely going to be their first date after the reformation (and first gig together in over a decade).

The reason RATM didn't get a countdown when they headlined Reading and Leeds was because by then they'd already reformed the previous year and played Coachella and countless other festivals, including T In The Park in the UK.

Personally I'd be well happy if it's Faith No More because they're one of my favourite bands. However I do also agree that the clock is a bit OTT and is guaranteed to piss a lot of people off when the announcement is finally made on Monday - no matter who is announced, it's bound to happen.

Whoever the headliner is it looks like Korn and Limp Bizkit are playing under them, so surely it will be someone of a similar genre and era
