hmm, The Essential is just a advanced stupid greatest hit album, and the essential has some pretty odd choices.. check out what Brian Fallon from the Gaslight Anthem says about "how to understand Bruce"

Start with the first album, theres a hungry young dude singing there. Then follow the albums from there, and each album will make more sense to you. It`s quite a uniq journey, and a very powerfull story all album`s togheter.

Here you have a young unsigned poor Springsteen singing his first masterpice, a great start:

ha ha.. of course not! You can buy (or listen on Spotify) any of the album`s, pretty much all of them stand their own ground very well. But, dont think that you know how he sounds from one album, they are all very different.

A good place is to start at the debut, or at the the "Live 75-85" release.

I got into Springsteen through The Ghost Of Tom Joad album and then Tracks.. so, If I where to take my own advise at that point.. maybe I would`not like it.. who knows.. many ways to Rome bla bla bla..

Does anyone know if spirit in the night is usually in his set list? Or does it vary quite a lot from gig to gig? Thats definitely my favourite springsteen track.

I'll be a very happy man if he plays:

Spirit in the night

Jungleland

Hungry Heart

Thunder Road

Dancing in the Dark

The River

Born to Run

Blinded by the Light

Darkness on the Edge of Town

Rosalita

4th of July, Ashbury Park

Tunnel of Love

But maybe i'm asking just a bit too much!

If you go on his website it shows the set lists - think he starts touring in March so it should give you a pretty good idea of what he's going to do (although he does mix the sets up quite a lot) (and I for one don't want to spoil the surprise anyway!)
