Gas cookers

I still got my gas cooker and 3 lots of gas from last year these are banned now what can I use to cook my chilli con carne or is it the large gas that's not allowed

serious? not allowed gas cookers??? i'm not fussed cos i never take one but my mates often do. what about disposable BBQs...?

On the site it say they allow bbqs and the fuel blocks and solid fuels

All gas stoves are banned this year, only camp stoves you can use are the solid fuel type (hexi i believe are recommended) so you'll still get your chilli, it just might take a little longer...

sucks for all the people who actually want to cook, a rightly due kick in the nuts to the w*nkers who blow them up come sunday night/monday morning.

typical case of the minority ruining it for the majority...

agreed. you cant cook everything on those disposable bbqs so what the hell are you meant to eat?

Cold beans? Balls to that.

Im not paying over the odds for a burger made from Pigeon either.

Another expense I didn't need might just smuggle my stove in as it about the size of a can of coke

To be fair I have seen these around on the net with a load of fuel tablet things for about £3.50 so not really talking mega bucks here... But they do look pretty crappy...

they only burn for 20 mins at the most it takes that long sometimes to boil water

Gas canisters are banned, so is petrol. Patrols round the campsites will confiscate gas canisters & possibly evict those using them.

What's NOT banned are hexi stoves & green heat pack things (forget the proper name, sorry), and trangia stoves which are meths fired.

So you can't blow yourself up with petrol or gas but you can apparently do so with meths, or you could just poison yourself with it instead... I've paid close attention to this one as I too bought a stove last year because Im sick of starving every Download weekend - not to mention the amount of money I spend on TEA!

Im going to buy a hexi stove and see how I get on with it - they're not expensive nor are the fuel blocks. If they're truly rubbish I'll try the green pack thing, that looks better but also unstable & I have concerns about alcohol & burning myself with it (apparently they get stuck somehow & I just KNOW that after a few drinks I'll end up picking the damn thing up or something!)

Trangias are quite expensive, blow up in your face if you're not careful, a mate used one for DofE & said it was rubbish; in all I think I'll give it a miss!!!

didn't realise the trangia (or whatever they are called) are still allowed... cool, got one of them. although last time i used it at download i knocked it over spilling burning meths onto dry grass... not good... so i went to the shop on site and payed silly money for a gas burner so i didn't burn the whole place to the ground... but it looks like in the interest of health and safety i'm going back to old faithful... so am now more likely to burn!!
