HastingsBoy
I err on the side of caution - acts only get marked as a tbc when I'm absolutely certain, rather than "I'm pretty sure that's right". That way mistakes aren't made* and people aren't misled that a band is playing when they're not. (*I'm not trying to claim perfection, and sometimes things change with an act anyhow, which causes them not to appear after all. But I don't think I'm boasting if I say the eFestivals record with getting these things pretty much spot on is excellent). There's a huge number of people who have been mislead into buying tickets for a certain festival this year via the very wrong "certainty" of another website. While they don't have much of a reputation to lose, I'm sure that those people who were mislead are far from happy about it. I'd rather not have eFestivals thought of just as poorly. I'm about 99% sure about Neil Young, but I just need a tad more to mark it as a tbc.

Boris
I've been told that Eavis near enough confirmed that Neil Young is playing (but without actually saying it) last night at the nme awards last night.

eFestivals
So does that mean you are more than 99% sure that he is playing Hard Rock Calling? I'm 100% on him playing HRC.

alframsey
I recognize this, but as an American that lives close enough to the border to have the same accent, same mannerisms, and same traditions as most south central Canadians (in fact, when I'm abroad most people take me for Canadian over American)...Canadians are smart enough people to realize that the US is not entirely full of redneck, gun-totting, racist Bush supporters. And seeing as my comment was made in jest, and clearly not an attempt to label them as America-lite (hell, if Wisconsin attempted to pass a law to cede and join Canada, I'd be on board...and sadly, so would the rest of the US probably, we are only good for meth, dairy, beer, and serial killers). Also, I'm not taking the comments seriously, don't worry, just thought I would defend my statement a little more thoroughly as to not be pegged as the ignorant American around these parts, as I know most people are more than ready to make that type of assumption about my countrymen. eFestivals
someone has just emailed me, and said that NY is cancelling Glastonbury to do IoW. I have absolutely no idea if there's any truth to what was mailed to me.
dannypal
well IoW pay billions for bands these days. Didnt they give the stones a million?

Tugger2k
Will be gutted if true. I would be very surprised if, the story is true, that NY would jump from 1 festival to another just for money. I know all stars are looking to line their own pockets but it seems that for him its only the music that matters. But filthy lucre is a big big draw to any principled man i guess

But filthy lucre is a big big draw to any principled man i guess TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if NY is lured by cash. Glastonbury have been trying to get him for years, and the only reason I can think of as to why they haven't is because of the money on offer. (That's not me putting that idea together with what I was told about IoW btw, I'm just mentioning something that's occurred to me over the years). darrenbha
This fits with something michael eavis said unless i imagined it. That they had 4 headliners and had to let one go

HastingsBoy
If this is true, I think it's likely Eavis won't touch NY with a barge pole in the future - he's just not worth the hassle and i'm sure I read somewhere that he wanted £1M to play. I'm fast losing my patience with NY and there will be a lot of unhappy people out there. The recent documentary on BBC 4 proved what a contrary old *ugger he is and if he's cancelled because someone else has offered more money then I think that says it all
eFestivals
I'm not going to be able to check things out as I'd hoped, but it appears unlikely that what I was told is true based on NY info received from a decent source earlier this week.
