scudetto_boy
If Eavis has said that an older gent who is a solo artist is playing on the friday, i'm taking it he means Mr Young.
Matt 100
I'm not going to be able to check things out as I'd hoped, but it appears unlikely that what I was told is true based on NY info received from a decent source earlier this week. grrrraeme
I'd be surprised and very disappointed if he cancelled for money. I've always thought him a man of integrity as he's refused to allow his back catalog to be used for commercials.
kohoutec
Presumably if this rumour has any substance he must've canceled yesterday or today? (Considering Eavis hinted strongly at the NME awards, and also to my friend on the train after the awards?)
pedmills
Probably doesn't make a lot of difference but Neil Young is doing a gig in Nottingham on the tuesday before Glastonbury, which sounds a lot like a warm up gig to me. sifi
I hope this isn't true, really I don't. He was the only headliner I would have defo watched.

Tugger2k
It gets to me a lot actually - I was born in the UK to Irish parents, but it was through all my relatives that I got into rugby. I go to watch London Irish a lot, and get over to watch Magners League games in Ireland or Wales whener I can. I follow Irish rugby really closely, but then when I go to watch the game because I've got an English accent all I get is shit from a load of eejits who come out of the woodwork because it's against England who know zip about rugby and don't even know the words to the national anthem. Really gets my goat Edited February 27, 2009 by Tugger2k

elfimaju
So having just read this thread can we summarise as follows: NY 4 HRC is C but NY 4 GF is TBC & NY for IOW is BS?

pedmills
Dont think this means much cos is NY was on about doin glasto which he obviously was or still is, he would of booked this gig ages ago & used as a warm up, but if what has been mentioned turns out to be true then its something which has only came to light in the past few days. Makes a wager from the gig, then makes even more money from IOW.

HastingsBoy
Neil (efestivals) any idea when we are likely to hear anymore on this? I still can't believe he would do the dirty and change Festivals - why can't he do both if he needs the money (yeah right!) or is it down to the exclusivity thing again (mind you he's playing the Hard Rock thing isn't he?) I will be gutted if Glast doesn't happen

eFestivals
Neil (efestivals) any idea when we are likely to hear anymore on this? On whether he's actually playing Glasto or not, it might be as late as when it's announced by Glasto or when it's announced by IoW. If he's playing IoW I think it's unlikely he'll play Glasto - IoW doesn't normally share its bigger headliners, as least not with festivals geographically fairly close and musically fairly diverse. However, IoW is sold out, so I guess that might make a difference. Expect NY to be announced for Hard Rock Calling fairly soon (maybe next week); the fact that it's Glasto weekend doesn't really prove anything. If NY is doing both HRC and Glasto, don't expect his confirmation for Glastonbury for quite a while after the HRC announcement, unless it sells out pretty fast. An IoW announcement of NY would of course add some weight to what that guy mailed me today. However, I know for certain that that guy's info comes from a place devoid of any *real* knowing NY info, or at least that was 100% definitely the case a few days ago anyway, and there's no strong reason why things might have suddenly changed. In theory that place should have great info, but I know for certain it had none, absolutely zero, a few days ago. /me tootles off to do a bit more research I've been meaning to do all day but haven't had time for......
