Norwegian music that should be booked

So, since I like to post about things I know about, and just lurks in threads where i don't know so much.. I thought I could make a little thread about some good Norwegian bands, me being a Norwegian and all..

Thinking of posting about a band or artist every now and then, 5 YouTube clips, maybe a review and few lines on background.

Take what you like, and flame the rest

Second band:

Madrugada

Sadly, the guitarist (Robert Burås) and maybe the bands most creative force died from a overdose just about two year`s ago. Which would be about the same as Noel dying from Oasis. The band continued performing live in some kind of a tribute spirit through 2008. When Robert died they where just about to wrap up their latest album, which now is proven to be their last.

They had their very last concert in December 2008, so a booking of the band may seem a bit far fetched. But, a appearance at glasto could be a nice international recognition (all tough they have sold a few millions) for the band, and might just pull the boys out for one last hurrah. Anyways, this is a band that stays with you if you let them in.

Madrugada by all music guide

Madrugada had already been playing together for five years before the release of their debut EP in 1998. Starting out in the small town of Stokmarknes in the north of Norway, they began under the name Abbey's Adoption in 1993, and decided to move to Oslo in 1995 to concentrate on their music. Their breakthrough came with the New Depression EP in the spring of 1999. It reached the upper end of the singles charts and gained heavy rotation on Norwegian radio.

Their debut album, Industrial Silence, was released in the fall of 1999. It became a success, selling more and more records as their fan base continued to grow as a result of their relentless touring. Never limiting themselves to only touring in Norway and Scandinavia, they became a live attraction throughout Europe, playing popular clubs in such cities as Berlin and Paris. This made them the Norwegian band with the strongest following outside of Norway for years.

In February 2001 they returned with the unlikely number one single "Hands up, I Love You" and second album, The Nightly Disease. This was a much darker and less accessible record than their debut; still, it outsold Industrial Silence in Norway within weeks. ~ Anders Kaasen, All Music Guide

I'd love to see some Scandinavian music at Glasto! I'm more familiar with Swedish and Danish bands as those are the languages I study, but really anything from that region would get me excited.

yea.. we used to play in Norway a bit, and they used to come and see us (fans apparently). We got to be good friends... many a late night in bars in Oslo playing air-guitar to AC-DC or ZZ top. Petter is a really good guitarist, it's a shame they're not better know...

boogie 'til you puke :O

They have a new album coming out 23. of march. They will play Øya Festivalen, one Norway’s biggest festival in August. They might be a potential booking for glasto.. so maybe you’ll get a chance to see them ;) But, I dont think their new effort will be as good as Melody AM. They have brought on some special guests for this album, mostly Norwegians.. you might know Robin she`s Swedish, she has done some excellent stuff you might have heard...
