duckygirl33
Hello all! I was hoping you'd have a brilliant solution to our transportation conundrum. A friend and I are going to glasto this summer as part of a larger trip to the UK. We are going to be in London just prior to glasto but plan on moving onto Oxford for the next night, and so on. We wanted to take some sort of coach, but I haven't found a way to have a different pick up and return destination. Any ideas? Thanks in advance... laid back in the sun
Yeah, I thought of that but I was hoping for a less expensive alternative.
hazey_jane
Or take a look at the lift share board. Have a brilliant trip to the UK and I hope you enjoy Glastonbury. You'll love it! We took a friend of ours from Germany last year and it was only her second time to England. She loved both so much she's coming back again with us. suchacharmer
I'm American as well, and also needing to do a one-way coach system as we coming from Cardiff and going to London after the festival. I'd also look into one-way train tickets, I've found that sometimes these end up being cheaper than a coach anyway. And hey, if you find a cheaper/easier alternative, let me know! paulo999
the key thing to be aware of is that sometimes with the international tickets they make you pick them up in Shepton Mallet
suchacharmer
I was told when I bought my tickets that they are going to be posted about a month before the festival. I think it also said something about this on the website?
Staberinde
I don’t know where to start on this topic. I’m afraid See Tickets have got a bit of a bad reputation now for sending out tickets on time, let’s hope this year they’ve had enough time to sort it out. But considering the re-sales are not until April, the actual tickets would be printed until after that date. Last year a couple of Danes who camped with us had to queue for over four hours at the collection point (wherever that is – see Paulo999’s post) would you believe it, in the end, they were just issued blank tickets with no photographs, names or address on, apparently they had lost a few thousand tickets for those coming from abroad. Best of luck to all of you coming from the States. Anyone coming from London: I’ve half a mind to offer you a lift, but only if you catch the 06:30 train from Waterloo to Andover on the Wednesday morning. I hate getting to the festival after 8 o’clock and that’s pushing it. I would drop you off at Andover station sometime on the Monday lunchtime. Andover is half way between London and Glasto, around 1 hour and 10 mins by train west of London. grrrraeme
I would advise getting there as early as possible on the Wednesday if you've gotta collect tickets on site. My mate came over from Sydney - we were on site by 8.30am and he ended up in the queue for over 1 hour - just 1 person dealing with the 1000s of tickets to be collected - and the tickets were not in any sort of order. As mentioned above try the lifts section for glastonbury festival. Good luck.

disasterplan44
I've done it three times and it's been a challenge every time. In 2004 we had to pick them up from the town hall in Shepton Mallet. After finally arriving at the gates, none of the wardens could direct us to the shuttle buses so a few of us blagged a bus driver do make a slight detour and drop us off. After getting our tickets we got a local taxi to take us through the back roads (high hedges etc) and got there in about 20 minutes. it cost us £2 each. I left London Victoria on the 10am coach and finally arrived on site at about 8.30pm. In 2007 our coach also left London Victoria at 10am, but this time ticket collection was down the road at the Bath & Wells Showground. We got off our coach, queued for a shuttle, queued for our tickets (about 45 minutes) and were surprised to notice that all the tickets were in the one pile and in no particular order. We queued up for a shuttle bus back to the festival, which joined the tailback... and eventually had us on site at about 6.30pm. Last year's situation was easily the worst. We drove in from Burnham on Sea and arrived at about 1pm. We'd been told the ticket collection would be on site so we thought it would be a lot easier than in previous years. We found the place and joined the queue, which went back about 50m. After four and a half hours, we were still not much closer and had drank almost all the booze we'd taken with us. By this point the queue stretched wayyy back and people were getting rowdy - extra security arrived and ME even came out to see what was going on. Finally, they set up a few tables and sorted us into queues based on the first letter of the primary ticket holder's last name. When we got to the front, they asked us how many tickets we'd booked. We said three and they gave us three. With NO PHOTOS OR REGISTRATION NUMBERS PRINTED on them. Yeah, we could probably have blagged an extra one. By about 7pm we were finally pitching our tents. This time around (booking from England but using my Australian friend's credit card), when paying off the balance of our tickets the seetickets site asked us where we'd like the tickets sent. I hope they send them out this time and don't change their policy a few weeks before the event. paulo999
Blimey. Knowing someone who (on the Thursday) only waited about 10 minutes, I assumed they'd got it all sorted at last. Hopefully this year will be better from the start.
