philknott
hi there !! i disagree with the last post, i took my daughter to V2005 when she was 3 years old and had a fabulous time. However as we live near Chelmsford we did not camp. I would defnatetly consider taking my children again as i now have another young daughter !! Maybe if you could arrange local bed and breakfast it would be more comfortable for you and your family !!

kookye
we have this debate every year. Well V is officially a pop festival now so I guess there will be increased levels of kids. I however do not think that taking 5 year olds (or whatever age) to stand in a field surrounded by piss and rubbish, boozed and drugged up louts is a good idea...but they're your kids so it's your choice and the opinions on myself and anyone else on here doesn't matter. clairetelche1
It's REALLY hard work walking in the mud etc and all the kids I've seen at V in the last 2 years have looked thoroughly miserable (except those young enough to be carried on shoulders etc.0 I think untill the organisers set up a family camping field it's a bad idea to take kids. There also seemed to be an increase in tent slashings etc last year so I'd be worried about that as well as all the piss heads

chilisara
hmmm I wonder this every year as have 2 kids (now 9 and 11) desperate to go. V to me gets bigger and busier every year, there is no way I would take them but then I wouldnt want to - its my weekend lol. I suppose if you tailor your experience around the kids, ie find somewhere quiet (not sure thats poss) to camp, stay out of the crowds (not sure thats poss either come to think of it) you might be ok - but there is nothing for kids there I dont think - i think my 11 year old would actually hate it if I ever took her. Ill take em when theyre 16! Tho theyll probably be much more trouble then!!!
MOLLYJESS
having booked my tickets this morning my 9 year old is now saying "I thought you said I could go this year!!" - well i did say she could come ONE year, but as chilisara says, it's a weekend for me and hubby to totally be ourselves and relax without the worry of where our girls are - my other daughter is 5 and woudl def not take her yet!!! I am not sure if V would be the festival to take my girls anyway, as mentioned before there isn't much to do for kids at all - other festies have fairgrounds etc so one of those may be better. there is a family camping area at Chelmsford, it was just off the yellow campsite last year, so if you did want to camp there is that option. I take my two girls camping a lot throughout the summer so hopefully that makes up for not going to V, although my girls do love a bit of music!!! One year perhaps .....??!
