StuwieG
Questions in the title. It's mine and my mates first Glasto this year, and I know people are going to say it's not all about the music, but I am really really underwhelmed by the lineup and the headliners so far. After last years with the Verve, Kings of Leon etc, I was hoping for more of the same. But I couldn't care less about Springsteen or Neil f***ing Young. Blur are OK Please announce someone whose relevent to today!!! I'd even take a Coldplay at the moment and thats saying something.

chrisdebag
i do wonder though if people would rather the bloody verve or coldplay over springsteen or young anyway there are lots and lots of different options dont get hung up on the pyramid although i do suggest a visit to the hospital and an ear syringe Edited February 27, 2009 by chrisdebag
stoneroses19
Me and my mates are all under 25 and last year was our first glasto. One of my mates saw all 3 pyramid headliner, the other two mates saw 2 pyramid and I only saw one (verve). By the time all the bands have been announced i can assure you, you wont even be thinking about what you dont like. if its kol esque bands your looking forward to, then john peel stage could be good for you. cribs, thr national and futureheads were headliners last year. Chocscoffer
To the OP and anybody else feeling the same way about the lack of 'younger' music being lined up. NEWSFLASH - NO LINE-UP HAS BEEN RELEASED. Only a few acts have been confirmed and there will be more than enough music to interest people who want to see younger acts so stop getting hung up on one or two acts FFS Just wait for the full ine-up before saying how disappointed you are with there being nothing for the younger generations. It is your first Glastonbury so let me assure you that there will be loads of acts that are more 'relevant' to you. Just chill out
Un Adepte Des Raconteurs
I'll be 20 at Glasto and I'm chuffed with the line-up so far tbh. Madness, The Specials, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Squeeze, Lightning Seeds, Bon Iver, Empire of the Sun, BLUR! outstanding so far IMO, loads of great upbeat classic pop, legendary bands and there's sure to be a lot of great new stuff. The thing I don't get is when a lot of people (I don't mean the starter of this thread) look at the Pyramid line-up and the headline acts on the other stages and criticise the lack of new music. The best new music is mostly found in the afternoon slots on the Other, JP and Park stages (not to mention the Queens Head on a Thursday) and so is largely ignored by TV and non-music media. If the 6 main acts on the Pyramid were Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Bloc Party, Razorlight and the Kooks the same critics would be bound to praise Glasto for its dedication to "young" music, despite the fact that the above line-up would be a dull, predictable catastrophe given that they've played a gazillion fests each in the last 4 years. Just because the main artists are older and more established doesn't mean that the people who enjoy it most must be of a similar age. Having said all that, I'll be anywhere but the Pyramid on Saturday night!
mr_bizarre
The best bands do not play on the pyramid stage!
kaanypooch
I'm under 25 (just) and more than happy with who is rumoured/announced/confirmed so far - though I'll be gutted if neil young pulls out. Fear not, young starter of this thread, there'll be loads of new bands spread acros the JP/Park and Other Stages. They tend to get booked/announced later on. It's always the bigger/older bands that have all the rumours about them early on.
MartinGooding
Im only 20 and im extatic with the lineup so far, but obviously the bands that have been announced or are "to be confirmed" arent to everyones tastes but there will be plenty of the young up and comers in the indie and electro world on the other stages, particularly on the Other, John Peel and Park stage, there will definately be something you want to see, dont start panicing now, everything will come together, and hopefully theyl anounce a few bands you want to see soon

glastofun
I'm 26, so not in the stipulated age range...but I find it hard for you to be happy with the Verve and think Blur are just ok?? Blur are much more dynamic and youthful in my opinion. Anyway, it's always the biggest acts who get the hype, and they are inevitably the ones with a substantial back catalogue and a reputation as live performer. The vast majority of acts at Glastonbury, if previous years are to go by, are ones with one or 2 albums out, so don't worry about it. russycarps
not being arsey but just wondering who would you have wanted ? looking at the rumours the other stage headliners seem to be shaping up as kanye, franz ferdiand, the white stripes surely they must have something to offer as an alternative to the mainstage (and are all much better than coldplay)

robith
I'm 24 And no, I'm not underwhlemed because so far they've annouced about 4 acts, all of whom I'm excited about. The other bands I'll get excited about and would love to see won't be announced for a while yet because they'll be on the other/jp/park stage. Last year some of the bands I enjoyed the most - Los Campesinos!, Stars, Band of Horses, were still months away from being announced at this point. eFestivals
*sigh* Again with the "They don't like this, they must be a mindless NME reading fool" jibe. Tis getting a bit tiresome. You are aware no one reads the NME anymore aren't you? if only that were true.

eFestivals
Circulation has fallen off a cliff, yep, down to around 45,000 - but readership still remains surprisingly high (bloody students ). website traffic being eroded by niche sites such as pitch4k and DiS. ...... do you know that eFestivals has over 3 times the readership of DiS?
