Macca87
Sorry if a similar thread has already been started but I couldn't find one (although admittedly I didn't have a thorough look!) Anyway, I've only heard heart of gold, old man and hey hey my my and I really like those 3 so I was wondering what else I should listen to. Should I just get a greatest hits or would I be better off getting 2 0r 3 of his albums?

Macca87
Cheers Lake. I think I'll get those albums you mentioned. I always prefer getting proper albums to greatest hits. I can't stop listening to Old Man at the moment! Great tune

DaveMac
Try getting 'Decade' which has a lot of his early classics and is not too expensive however does not cover any of his later stuff. I have underlined my favourite classics from it 1. Down To The Wire 2. Burned 3. Mr Soul - Buffalo Springfield 4. Broken Arrow 5. Expecting To Fly 6. Sugar Mountain 7. I Am A Child 8. Loner 9. Old Laughing Lady 10. Cinnamon Girl 11. Down By The River 12. Cowgirl In The Sand 13. I Believe In You 14. After The Goldrush 15. Southern Man 16. Helpless 17. Ohio 18. Soldier 19. Old Man 20. Man Needs A Maid 21. Harvest 22. Heart Of Gold 23. Star Of Bethlehem 24. Needle And The Damage Done 25. Tonight's The Night 26. For The Turnstiles 27. Winterlong 28. Deep Forbidden Lake 29. Like A Hurricane 30. Love Is A Rose 31. Cortez The Killer 32. Campaigner 33. Long May You Run Well worth checking out but he has done a lot of other good stuff later too. Try 'Harvest Moon' for example. I'm sure you will find something you like - enjoy the trip

fantomas
The set list archive at Sugar Mountain is kept nice and up-to-date to see what's been played recently - LINK Favourite tracks for me: Cortez the Killer Cowgirl in the Sand After the Goldrush From Hank to Hendrix Ambulance Blues On the Beach Like a Hurricane Rockin' in the Free World... Live Rust and Weld are both cracking live compilations and a good way in I think. Edited March 1, 2009 by fantomas

ig1234
I always advise people to first get Decade, and probably Live Rust, Rust Never Sleeps, Freedom and Ragged Glory should then cover most of his set. Or do what I did, and buy everything he's ever done. My favourite tracks are probably: For The Turnstiles Words (epic at Werchter ) Time Fades Away Crime In The City f**kin' Up Old Man Don't Let It Bring You Down I'm The Ocean Captain Kennedy Look Out For My Love Cowgirl In The Sand Be The Rain Drive By Drive Back Welfare Mothers New Mama Alberquruqe Sample And Hold Dangerbird But to be honest, I'm pretty useless as a barometer as the only I don't really like is Everybody's Rockin'.... so yes, I love Trans and Landing on Water

Martin Ashford
I would heartily recommend the Ragged Glory album - every song is a killer and sung with oodles of conviction - also Live Rust and Decade for excellent overviews of all his best stuff.
