Almost Crimes
I myself am a young person and I'am loving the way the festival is shaping up.But this lineup isn't met with such enthusiasm by my friends and is a reason why most of them aren't interested in the festival. Has/will this lineup attract large number of people aged 16-24 ? (I'am not complaining) Edited March 1, 2009 by Almost Crimes

benisright
I dont understand why Blur arent an attractive proposition to every 18 year old whining. (im not saying the OP is, but obv his friends are). Im only 20 and i cant wait, and all my friends love Blur. Plus Kanye headlining the other stage on the friday probably, and every band the NME tells young people to like. Young people have it lucky. Tim2006
I'm sure by the time the full line-up is announced there will be enough for everyone of all ages (as usual!). Anyway there'll be a lot of young'ns wanting to see Bruce, Blur etc as they've not had the chance before and may not again (Bruce is getting on a bit nowadays!) The only big names bandied around at the moment are ones that are appearing on the Pyramid. However I've never really seen the Pyramid stage as the main stage for me. I always tend to find the bands that suit my tastes on other stages and therefore rarely get worried about what's going on at the Pyramid. All good things etc.... Sawdusty surfer
i think glastonbury wants a younger audience, but if it announces a "young"line up it will struggle to sell out. if it announces an old fogey line up........ (OH YES, ROCK ON :-) my mates and I are going to have a huge party ! ) ..it sells out earlier than ever. having said that there will ALWAYS me more than enough to keep everyone happy. pineapple-tea
So far, no. I think a majority of younger people (at least those aged 16-19, the rest I can't really account for) are looking for "newer" headline acts. However, I expect once the full line up is released, everybody will find something to be happy with. I'm personally UTTERLY FILLED WITH JOY that Florence and the machine are appearing, and will be even more so if Pendulum is announced. MadDogMadDog
The fact that the festival is sold out tells you something. For those who go for the music there will be so many bands/DJs there will be something for everyone. Some of the older bands that are rumoured may appeal to people who were not born when they first performed - until they have heard them they can't possibly pre-judge them. I myself am a young person and I'am loving the way the festival is shaping up.But this lineup isn't met with such enthusiasm by my friends and is a reason why most of them aren't interested in the festival. Tim2006
The Arctic Monkeys headlined the year before last and I would guess that they would be classed as a 'newer' headline act...however in my personal opinion although I absolutely love them, they weren't ready to headline the Pyramid stage. pineapple-tea
They want cheap booze, immoral sex, hoodies and to stab people. This is a fact, I've read the Daily Mail.

strudders
Of course Glastonbury wants young people there, and there will be thousands. There will also be all the "new" (I hate that word) music bands on loads of stages. I think the question here though is, do you then expect them to Headline? IMHO the Headline act should be someone of great importance, relevance and able to unit all the crowd. I think they have done a great job so far. However if it means young people don't go because the Headliner's are not "new" music (see said it again) then I think they are missing the point. There are stages all over Glastonbury that can handle tens of thousands of people. Just because a band is not on the Pyramid does not mean you cant have a wicked time. Peace. Funkfarley
The shame on your generation is that you'll send invites out on facebook for a revolution and The Man will find out. Start being more secretive. But let me in on it so I look cool.

Joshuwarr
There does need to be more youngens I feel as the crowd is often really lifeless. The people from 15 years ago would be bopping about and dancing like loons now stand rather reserved looking down on those who werent there during the "glory days."
