eFestivals
Depeche Mode not to play then. http://www.teletext.co.uk/planetsound/news...Mode+fests.aspx I wouldn't take too much belief from what originated in The Scum last week. radioshed
I really really want to believe the reports that say it's happening, but star e-central.com, doesn't exactly seem like the source of all knowledge.

dirtyepic
Heard it myself. Very very definitely. He was quite dismissive of the Sun article, which ISTR him describing as "one of the rags".
Al the CAT
Depeche Mode has rubbished rumours that they have been booked to play at Glastonbury Festival this year. Keyboardist Andy Fletcher cleared up internet claims that the group would be performing at the Somerset bash, during an interview with Kerrang! Radio's Emma Scott. "That is a rumour and it's not true." Says Fletcher. "Unless our management is going behind our backs, as far as we're concerned that is definitely not on." Elsewhere in the interview, Andy let slip that Depeche Mode would be touring "until February" next year - despite the band previously announcing their 'World Tour of the Universe 2009' would only be running until September. Scott asked if their schedule had been increased, to which Fletcher replied: "I've given it away, you're going to get me in trouble now. My manager's going to come down on me heavy!" "It's likely that we will be doing quite a few more dates – maybe Birmingham (UK). It would be nice to put our feet up after September but the fans are just going crazy, we might have to extend it. There could be riots!" Earlier today, frontman Dave Gahan said their new material had been influenced by R&B. Depeche Mode release new album 'Sounds Of The Universe' on April 21st. bigmuppet
OK, I'm confused now. Did anyone hear the 6Music bulletin just then? I'm sure the lady said that they would be revealing a different sound at Glastonbury this year, a more 'country' one from the new album SOTU. Now I'd given up on them playing so it didn't compute when she first said it, but then she said it again. Am i going mad? Help!

bigmuppet
She said "you're going to be seeing a whole new side of Depeche Mode at Glastonbury this year...unleashing their new album on the somerset festival...bit of Dave Gahan talking about analogue synths" Certainly sounded like 6 music think they're playing... paulo999
Thanks rinkydink, I didn't think I'd mis-heard. So ... WTF is going on? Look, which bands play make no difference to me when it comes to it - last year's lineup was rubbish, but I think it was my best festival in the 15 years i've been going - but DM are one of my faves and it's always good to have a peak act about which to pivot one's weekend of perfection and pear cider.
