At the risk of sounding like a noob (since I've only been to festivals that don't sell out really quick) does anyone have any tips on how to, at least, increase the chances of getting a ticket?

Be there on the right page, ready to refresh, keep trying, use the "backdoor link" if only for the placebo effect (it'll come up on here). Then keep trying, and keep trying and keep trying. Then if all fails, go on at 3am and try again.

if you dont get one you can always buy one at the box office on the day of the festival, i've done this for the last five years and theres always been stacks full of tickets on sale

Do not bother! Seriously you will be let down. It was chaos last year and Reading council have got involved and stopped it happening again.

Don't panic when it says "sold out'. Batches of tickets keep coming up for sale every few hours / every few days. Just keep checking. Folks on this site will post messages when they see these.

(Can't remember if someone mentioned this but ...) SEE are probably the biggest distributor. Have other ticket agents up in other windows too. One year I found that Lastminute.com was easier to purchase from than SEE.

Really anally, have your credit card number copied to your clipboard to quickly paste in. Memorise your expiry date and security number so you can quickly enter them.

I dont think tyou should refresh to often wasnt there something on see where it blocks you for a bit if you keep refreshing :S
