naming a rap artist had nothing to do with it. it just seemed like the claim was that Slipknot could sell out the SECC easily but Prodigy needed Dizzee Rascal to help, which seemed a bit daft to me (edit - probably just me misreading!). which is why i mentioned the support bands.

and for the record, i wrote my university dissertation about hip-hop music, so believe me, mention it in the Download thread all you want, and try and find out which hip-hop artist my screen name comes from :P

christ. i'm getting scared. i joined the official boards a few days ago and now i'm arguing with strangers. shit.

All this talk about Prodigy being 'amazing' live, I saw them at V in 05' & (please correct me if I'm wrong) it just seemed like a bloke playing records with Keith Flint & Maxim Reality like 'hype men' getting the crowd going? What am i missing?

I saw Prodigy at Bixton academy in 03 & Download 06 both times I was on the barrier right at the front and they gave one of the best shows I have ever seen. They have a live drummer Live guitars and Liam does not play records he has keyboards and other digital equipment to make the music as live as possible. With Keith and maxim providing vocals and generally making sure the crowd is going mental.

theramm, you are very very wrong... when i saw the Prodigy in Leeds at '02 it was NOT just a guy playing records, amazingly dance acts sometimes have guitarists and drummers and things! and the 'guy playing records' is actually using keyboards and synths and decks and all the dance stuff i don't properly understand! :)

and at Download in '06, i couldn't even see them, i was outside cos it was so rammed, and still an unbelieveble show.

they will be MINT this year! :)

Thing is i saw prodigy at v05, and they had the live drummers and guitarists as well as liam, keith and maxim. As for the crowd, it was completely mental i started off at the front and had to work my way back about 5 times everyone was moving so much. The atmosphere is something else, and this is from someone who was relatively sober :)

It's a stupid argument about Prodigy. Obviously they are bigger amongst the population as a whole, but download isn't about the population as a whole, it's about metal and alternative, in which case Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Korn etc are either equally or more popular.
