Really? I've seen them three times and they've never hugely impressed me. First time was at MOR 1991, supporting Acca Dacca, then at Wembley Arena on the Black tour and the last time was in the tent at Download.

Oddly the set-list each time was not that different. Maybe Fade to Black was dropped by the time I saw them in the tent.

No, for thrash metal, a Slayer Live gig is for me much more fun.

Muse - Earls Court 04. One of my first gigs and i left with such a buzz.

Radiohead - V2006. First time i saw them and it was incredible, i thought they would be the best band of the weekend before i left, but before radiohead was...

Beck - V2006. Only knew a couple of songs, but absolutely blew me away, his showmanship was incredible with all the puppets and everything.

Divine Comedy - St. James' Church London. My favourite band and saw them in this tiny venue where there was essentially no stage, i was literally 1m from the band during Tonight We Fly, my favourite song.

And finally, Paul Simon - Wembley Arena. Dont need to say how good a songwriter he is, just incredible.

1: Animal Collective, I've seen them 8 times now and every time has been beyond incredible and completely different.

2: Conor Oberst solo at the London ULU in 2004, I think the only gig I've been to where the crowd were completely silent during the songs then erupted after them.

3: Joanna Newsom & the LSO at the Barbican in 2006, she managed to recreate Ys perfectly.. I didn't think that was possible!

Other amazing sets: My Bloody Valentine, !!!, Fugazi, Belle & Sebastian, Arcade Fire, Bjork, Explosions in the Sky, of Montreal, Sigur Ros, Clipse, Sufjan Stevens, ISIS, Wilco.

1. Radiohead - shiver down the spine perfection - Thom Yorkes voice is flawless and gorgeous and perfect and happy.

2. Faithless... ahhh let it happen again!

3. Hot Chip! (just because I love them SO much!)

The year that they replaced White Stripes at T in the Park and opened with 7 nation army and played "Thank you Jack White for the fibreoptic Jesus that you gave me" is the best set I've seen at any festival. Peter Buck and the Super Furry Animals ended up on stage with them too.

I've seen a lot of really great bands live (including Radiohead, The Strokes, etc) but no one can hold a candle to Muse at Lollapalooza 2007, I was right up by the stage and it started raining halfway through, but seeing as all day it had been bordering on 100 degrees (fahrenheit, obvs) it actually was a really welcomed shower. Everything about that night was perfect.
