i might be going mad but im sure i heard somewhere that out of the 4 headliners, 2 were going to be american and 2 english. surely this means the last headliner will be english and aimed at young people?

im thinking:

bloc party?!?!?

the klaxons? new album due out this year i think

arctic monkeys? probably will be at reading/leads though :P

oasis or the white stripes might be a good shout as well.

*slightly offtrack as may not appeal to the target of the thread, but just found out tracy chapman's playing festivals in europe 2 weeks after glasto; I've got my fingers majorly crossed for her. :P ...tho think she'd possibly be acoustic headliner if so

It shows you how f**ked up this all is when the bands people list as for 'young' people are all at least 5 years past their best.

I hope we finally get a mass breakdown of the fence and an invasion of about 50,000 hippy/ravers with truck soundsystems and 100,000's of free happy pills. It'd add something Glastonbury has not had in a long time, edge.

Sorry to be so negative but I downloaded Neil Young and Bruce Springsteens best ofs this morning and have just finished listening to them back to back. No wonder I'd never listened to them before. Dreary predicatable dad-rock.

kasabian would be good! they were brilliant before the killers in 07!

bit gutted about the headliners this year 2bh.

it better not be coldplay or bloc party. :P or the script for that matter - since when were they headliner material?! all their songs are bland and sound exactly the same! and haven't they only had 1 album out?

f**k you.

MGMT would actually be a good choice. They were immense last year and they will likely have a new album out by Glasto.

Also, TV on the radio. A band who have achieved much success recently but with a large back catclogue that could support a headline set.

And I'd support more hip-hop. Ultimately, this is what sells thse days so the youngsters must like it. Having Jay-Z one year then Dad-rock central tyhe next makes the whole 'get more young people 2008' thing look like a novelty joke.

Anything basically that wasn't stale old music for stale old people. I'd happily be surprised.
