eFestivals
What would the subscription fee be, very roughly? Just to give me an idea.....? It's been extremely difficult to work out what to charge, because those people that are likely to go for the subscription will be those people who are likely to use eFestivals the most, and the price has to reflect this. It's going to be £18 per annum. That's £1.50 a month, or just 5p a day. Considering the use of eFestivals that some have (such as yourself), it's hardly an extreme amount of money when you consider what else you might get (not a lot!) for just 5p. eFestivals
I'm fairly sure that iTunes/Napster/See Tickets/Ticketmaster/Blacks etc have affilaite programmes which anyone can join and once joined (Which Efests probably already are) then it wouldn't take long to dig out a few relevalnt links to past into new articles. while you say it wouldn't take long (and it wouldn't), when you consider the amount of work going into maintaining this website with the very best up-to-date info, and the fact that the staff are already 12+ hours a day, it's not something that can really be justified time-wise for the limited return from each ad addition. elfimaju
yup, it's hard out there at the moment. I'm keeping everything very firmly crossed that things will be OK, but they won't be if the downturn I've seen i9n February is repeated thru the year .... I'm still hopeful tho, cos January was good, and the new style efests website is attracting many more users and will hopefully make potential advertisers look more fondly on the site (I'm aware that some had an issue with the old style). As for your new owner's deep pockets .... erm ..... well .... I can only think you've fallen for the bullshit that surrounds him. He's certainly massively less wealthy than many of the claims I've read about him, and it's not as tho the £1 he shelled out to buy the business stretched him very hard. Best of luck with him, but I suspect that things will go tits up there very rapidly.

eFestivals
Fair enough. All I'm saying is that trying to encourage users to buy their stuff through your affiliate relationships by making them more obvious is a better idea than getting users to click on CPC ads (or "click fraud" as it's also known). I haven't asked anyone to do that.
eFestivals
Can we pay by direct debit. Like, 1.50 per month? I don't think they'd be any difficulty in me setting up a monthly option as well, but I'd charge more for it because they'd be a hugely increased admin overhead. I'll have a think on what that charge would be, but off the top of my head i reckon it's going to be at least £2 a month.

chilli78
Surely we all know that everything that is on the internet is completely free.
darrenbha
So having phone access only today and having missed a page is the charging definitely going ahead. Fine with it myself if so.

Chocscoffer
What Sifi said. Is it THAT distracting? I mean really? It does mean we get a nice free site at the end of the day.
Chimps in Balaclavas
I'd happily throw in around £20 a year to keep the site running, it would be a shame to see it finish. Maybe for each person that donates to the site, they could be rewarded with a little gold star next to their name & maybe a temporary coloured one for those who have purchased something from the site shop. Not only would it pique people's curiosity, but it would also encourage people to help the site out.
