Please stop moaning about the acts that have been annouced being not of "today's" scene. There will be plenty of bands you like playing the Other Stage, John Peel stage, Park Stage, Dance Tents and earlier on on the Pyramid stage etc. Its not as if Glastonbury is a place for people on zimmers!! I'll throw some acts in that I reckon will be there somewhere.

The Enemy

Kasabian

Courteeners

Gaslight Anthem

Klaxons

Late of the Pier

Crystal Castles

Bloc Party

Ting Tings

Empire of the Sun

Animal Collective

The Cribs

Airborne Toxic Event

Red Light Company

MGMT

Vampire Weekend

Bat For Lashes

Bon Iver

Fleet Foxes

Howling Bells

Pete Doherty

White Lies

Glasvegas

Ladyhawke

Little Boots

Lykke Li

Franz, Lily Allen and Doves have already confirmed so there's 3 already for you! Young & Springsteen are two of the biggest acts in the world (ever!!) and Blur are one of the biggest indie acts the country's ever seen. If you don't like em, don't see em but I'm guessing you just don't want to like them cos they're not "cool".

Personally I don't like watching bands on the Pyramid anyway cos the sound's often awful, there's more flags than you could wave a...flag at and it's an utter ball ache to find anyone again if you need to go to the toilet or bar. Be thankful that the bands you like will probably be on the better, smaller stages!!!

But a list of bands that are more likely than not going to play on the smaller stages. My point is, just because the headliners aren't "young" it doesn't mean that the rest of the fest will be the same.

My daughter has been going to Glasto since she was 15 (she's now 25). Apart from the fact that we are both inside the same site fence you'd think talking afterwards that we attended totally different festivals. She goes to dance places I watch old farts music mainly on the Acoustic, and Jazz places.

We meet up occasionally for some shared music.

Young people don't panic there will be enough to keep you entertained.

I can see your point, but what I think you may be missing is that none of those on your list are big enough to headline the Pyramid, but there are "cool" bands out there that could have done so, but have not been booked in favour of older "uncool" acts. "Young" people pay the same ticket price as everyone else yet this year haven't got one of their bands as a headliner and have to be content with those on your list, like some kind of consolation prize - quantity over quality. It just doesn't seem very fair really. Saying that, I'm not that young anymore and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Blur again, but I can see the point of those not that happy with the headliners.

Why does everything have to be split up. At Reading/Leeds it's all "there's too much indie and not enough metal" and then arguments as if you can only like one or the other. For Glasto it's all "young or old". Just getting sick of all the arguments now. You'd be better making a nice simple thread with some good youtube links to listen to Bruce and Neils music. Young people don't like them not because they're trying to be cool, but because they haven't been exposed to them. I'd barely heard of Neil Young (I thought someone meant Neil from the Young Ones when they first said it!) but now I've been listening to him and he's actually pretty good.

Only 5 of them bands are worth watching anyway.

same as us.. we have another daughter who's been going since she was 3, and one of the things she loves is the fact that she's seen Paul McCartney, Arthur Lee, Brian Wilson, The Who .. and loved them all. They both spend lots of time at the dance village, or John Peel stage, and we meet up for 'family' performances, like the above, and the Chemical Brothers, Lemon Jelly.... and others.

At school, when some of the legends come up in converstaion, or in her music classes, and she says "I saw Paul McCartney" (or whoever), her friends are dead envious, and she realises she's had a chance to see some truly talented legends, that won't be around for much longer.
