I got myself one of those savings tins that you can only open with a tin opener. Had to do this cos I know after spending £1000 a month on childcare alone not to mention my massive mortgage etc, I just wasnt going to have the spends unless I saved.

Its feeling pretty weighty so far, I only put pounds and notes in when I can (hubby has been sneaking dough in there too) but its just a bit more than I would have had otherwise.

It must be real hard for those who have recently lost their job or had hours cut. Its a real shit position to be in but then again, Glasto is the ultimate get away if you can afford it!

I'm self employed and things arent as good as they used to be. so glad the ticket is paid for and hotel for tuesday booked and paid for last year. I've been putting £50 away every month since oct so will have at least 400 when the fest starts so just need to find enough for my bits and pieces and beers which shoud be do-able in the next few months. wont be living it up this year though.

I had only paid the £50.00 deposit when I found out I was being made unemployed. As soon as I got notice of my Redundnacy i paid the balance off! I wasn't going to risk not being able to pay the balance off! I still haven;t found work so finding spending money will be another challenge.

You have to get your priorities right!

My trick is never to spend a £2 coin - if I get them in change etc I save them in my piggy bank, which has an 'in' but no 'out'. It only works out at a few quid a week so I don't miss it. In June the pig gets smashed with a mallet, and the coins taken to the bank to exchange for tenners. I managed to save £260 last year, and spent about £50 to replace various old-and-broken camping bits and bobs, plus snack food and booze, spent a tenner on a new piggy for this year and the rest came with me to Worthy Farm!

I quit my job at the beginning of December because I was being bullied and hated it. A risk in these times I know but figured unemployment was better than working there! Then just over a month ago I dislocated my kneecap and I'm still not walking properly so I can't look for something at the moment either.

Glastonbury this year is coming out of my savings.

i do the same as the £2 piggy bank thingy but i use 20ps and put the odd £1.00 in (and the odd £10 if i'm feeling super rich that week). but i'm saving it all for a trip to aust at the end of the year!

around april time i put aside £70 per month for glasto. it seems to work.

I lost my job due to redundancy in November and have not worked since alas B)

Fortunately for me I had the foresight to pay my ticket off in full when I was working and have have saved about £120 for Glastonbury and will add to my little fund as and when I can afford it.

Luckily I don't tend to spend a great deal when I'm there so won't have to save much more hopefully.

Life would be so much less complicated for me if I was working but you have to get though the bad times as best as you can - you never know what is around the corner B) .

I heard I may get a couple of months work in near future, which would help.

I think going to Glastonbury will be, as usual, one of my highlights of the year and something I would absolutely hate to miss - it is something so special you cannot put a real price on it.

Lets hope this economic situation is resolved soon for everyone esp those facing hardship.

Best wishes to all my similarly unemployed Glastophile friends :)

I was similar to someone else. I was made redundant at the begining of January and as it was pay day I decided that there was no way we weren't going to Glasto so I paid of the balance for 2 tickets when i got home. I started my new job last week after being out of work for 8 weeks. Trying to find work got a little depressing at times but the thought of going to Glasto really spurned me on to find work ASAP so we could save up a bit of money before we went! I think it's a bit late now to save up a decent amount of money but I know we're going to have an amazing weekend regardless and I can't wait for June to roll around!

I've been unemployed for a while now and it's pretty depressing, paying the balance on the ticket really hurt. I wouldn't be on this site except I crib my next door neighbours wifi connection!! Glastonbury though is the only thing keeping me happy, it's all I've got to look forward to all year really.. no holidays, no spending, no honey but... Glastonbury 2009, hurrah! B)
