no, I said that Radiohead were in the frame and then dropped out of it (which, from all sources, seems to be true) ... and then have somehow got back into it, after the agents came back from their stupidly long xmas break and told Reading/Leeds they could not have Green Day (which R/L believed they had as good as signed and sealed).

At no point did I say Green Day were definitely playing. Other websites did.

When Radiohead were out of the frame for R/L, they were properly out of the frame. So what I said was correct at that time. The fact they're back in is, I think, down to R/L's desperation in trying to ensure they had exclusive* acts as headliners.

(* exclusive works on many levels. For KoL, it's "an English exclusive").

Did anyone see ian brown when he headlined the other stage in 2004 or 2005? the roses songs he sung were utterly sensational and perfectly in tune. Sally cinnamon and made of stone were some of my greatest glasto moments

Not one album mentioned in this thread comes anywhere close to the quality of The Stone Roses eponynous debut. NOT ONE!

It did change the face of music.

The dude who reckons it wasn't significant until the mid-nineties must have been in a coma for 6 years. Did the Madchester scene never happen?

If they reformed and played at Glastonbury, it would be the single most exiting and anticipated musical event this decade weither it was good or diabolical. It doesn't matter what any of you think.

I hope it happens but can't see it unfortunately

One last thing. I'm sure there is meant to be more music on the Thursday this year. The headliner on the Pyramid stage on the Thursday would more than likely have the biggest crowd of the weekend. Just a thought!

I do personally think it's a great album the roses album. But I don't personally think it was that much of a revolutioary album, it just came off the back of a very stagnant music scene at the time, same with the Oasis's album, same with the strokes album, same with the artics album - goes in 4 year cycles usually...

If they haven't got a licence for music on a Thursday, I must have imagined watching The Levellers on the Leftfield stage last year.

The rumour is meant to be 4 headliners. 2 British, 2 American.

2 American announced (I'm aware Neil Young is Canadian)

1 British.

1 left on an unspecified day!

An incredibly overrated band.Their debut is outstanding but one great album does not a great band make....however they would be headline material based on their mass appeal.I'd go see them but not before bruce or neil.Have no idea where they would fit on the bill if they do play.

Disagree with you. Its clear the story is bogus but the bad vibes knocking around about the Roses being overrated is waffle. They would be brilliant headliners for the fest. Better than Shakey IMO.

And the second album is the most underrated and misunderstood album of the 1990s. Its BADASS in places.

Agreed. Ten Storey Love Song, Daybreak, Good Times, Love Spreads and Breaking Into Heaven are all easily some of their best songs.
