Fourth headliner: The Stone Roses

Shame I think. Would have loved to see the Stone Roses even if they were apparently crap live. An amazing album in 'The Stone Roses', one that sh*ts over anything written by Oasis and Blur IMO. I don't know how anybody could say they fluked that album when you listen to tunes like 'She Bangs the Drums' and 'Waterfall' 'I am the Resurrection' which is some of the best guitar music that came out of the late 80s, early 90s. The intrumental at the end of the Resurrection would challenge the Floyd. I'd agree that Brown is a tw@ like.

Just got home from work after not seeing a paper since yesterday. Wow exciting news. Seen ian brown a few times, but would still love to see original line up.

Not one album mentioned in this thread comes anywhere close to the quality of The Stone Roses eponynous debut. NOT ONE!

It did change the face of music.

The dude who reckons it wasn't significant until the mid-nineties must have been in a coma for 6 years. Did the Madchester scene never happen?

If they reformed and played at Glastonbury, it would be the single most exiting and anticipated musical event this decade weither it was good or diabolical. It doesn't matter what any of you think.

I hope it happens but can't see it unfortunately

John Squire is taking his art exibition around the world this summer so wont be available for any reunion and Ian Brown has already quashed this supposed reunion and has issued a statement saying he will be busy recording his new album this summer which will be released later this year.

if it wasn't for the roses bringing 'indie' into the mainstream theres quite a few bands that would never have even got a record deal nevermind headlined glastonbury! oasis for a start with their attempt at reinventing ian browns manc swaggering coolness and lets not forget how blur jumped on the baggy bandwagon and became famous when they released 'theres no other way'! although in no way do i hold the roses responsible for all the britpop pap and landfill indie that followed on from their success, its just an unfortunate side effect!
