Right - I know alot of people are as fed up as I am about the SpecialK advert. And I know some people will believe the hype of SpecialK if they are trying to lose some weight for the Summer.

So... mentioning no names... a certain product out there is supposed to be good for you and helps you lose weight.

Now, what is one of the causes to put on weight.. SUGAR. Not the natural sugar found in fruit which is good and burns off slowly through the day and keeps up your energy levels and sorta keeps you feelling full. I am talking about - down and dirty SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR just purposely added to things as an ingredient.

Well, this certain product contains 17g of sugar (which is listed as an added ingredient) per 100g of the product. That is equivelant to just over 4 teaspoons full.

So, if on your diet you decide to have a healthy breakfast - would you then go to your sugar pot and spoon 4 full teaspoons full of the stuff into your mouth knowing well that this is not good for you and is certainly not a good 'weight loss' idea?

Thats just my take on things folks. As a comparison - look at oats as part of a healthy breakfast which USUALLY contains about 1.5g grams (per 100g) of naturally occuring sugar as opposed to... well... I think you get the meaning here.

Just offering what I know as advice for fellow Glasto dieters in the hope it helps.

I am not the 'know all' of sugar or any foods so if anyone feels I am incorrect - post away.

eh? Well if you dont know I suggest you do some reading.

pseudoscience - nope. Open minded, interesting and possibly important research is how I would describe it.

Actually, since you included such persuasive language in your post - you have convinced me otherwise. I TOTALLY agree with you. How could I defeat an argument like that.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

This guardian article is quite balanced, and describes some of the research and claims of the milk industry and of scientists and doctors about milk

(by the way, i am in no way suggesting anybody drinks cows milk)

(or sucks on the nipples of any other animal for that matter)
